I think Velka is Gwyn's wife/queen, mother to some of Gwyn's children. Considered rogue and feared because she has a huge chunk of the dark soul, and history is written by the victors. She probably did, considering it was the dawn of the age of Fire and the Dark soul was probably not divided that much yet. Probably did some messed up stuff like scale-less dragon coitus and gave birth to some scary-ass kids whose daddy weren't definitely Gwyn. I mean, in dark souls 2, these 'dark queens' (who were fragmented bits of Manus) always sought out and married kings of biggest kingdoms and sort of ruined it for them, right? That make sense? I think so. I dunno.
It came to my mind the moment I saw the scene with Kaathe again in this video, and I don't know if it´s been theorized yet but, what if the three sisters are descendants of Kaathe somehow? There are descendants of dragons and humans/gods after all, so…, maybe it´s possible. My basis of this idea: the snake eyes of the youngest daughter, the motivation behind their church and the sculpture in the room where father Ariandel is that resembles a lady with snake/serpent body. I did forget to kill the chameleon that would kill Anri, so I did go and marry Anri, but right after that grounded souls to heal all of my dark Sigurd because I don’t want to do that ending. That’s my second playthrough aswell. Don’t know by but I just don’t want to become a god. Too much responsibility and maybe boring. I’ll stay with the fire keeper and everyone else in the shrine.

Man such an old video. But anyway, the idea that Velka holds the last secrets is kinda metaphorical in a sense. Velka is related to the vow of silence miracle. Making her a goddess of silence in a sense. The last secrets of dark souls residing in silence is quite poetic in a sense, well it’s always poetic in dark souls but you know what I mean.
After rewatching this again countless time, I just realized the Unkindled Ash is King Vendrick, Aldia and even Nashandra Ideal goal.
Once you mentioned velka the goddess of sin, I couldn’t help but think that it is only human, to commit a sin. TEHEHEHEHEHUEHUEHUEHEEEHEHE.

I doubt anyone will see this but it's pretty crazy that "jar-eel" the Undead King that was cut in Dark Souls 1 is basically Slave Knight Gael in Dark Souls 3 Ringed City. Looking at his cape movement 17:20 and the name similarities it seems obvious to me; that there was an ultimate Undead boss planned from the very beginning, and became the final boss of the franchise.
I am watching this now in April 2024 anticipating the Elden Ring DLC. The two franchises share a lot of themes, characters, and even bosses. I believe we have seen the final boss of the Elden Ring Franchise already in some form, whether in cut content or not, and we may not see it for many years to come (Elden Ring 2, etc.). I'll check back then and see how crazy or correct I was.

Yuria is wrong when she says Hollows are the true face of Humans because Humans have Dark Souls and Hollows don’t have any souls that’s why in DS1&2 you’re not considered Human when you go Hollow so Yuria is contradicting the narrative. However, she is technically correct because Humans are descendants of Manus and his wife Velka so whether a Human has a Dark Soul or not (or even other souls) they’re still a genetically part of the Human community.

I get that Miyazaki seems to prefer using DLC as a way of going back in time to flesh out the existing timeline, rather than extending it. But this would’ve been a welcome departure.

I think that Gwyn linked the fire in response to the curse first appearing, rather than the curse appearing afterward.
I'm just wondering how Hollows, who are usually completely insnane and aimless, managed to be hollow while also staying sane enough to form a society.

9:25 The shackles and the curse are a result of gwyn stealing manus's dark souls and offering it to the flame. Humanity was chained to the flame, the curse is the result of our contradictory nature, and the corruption from the abyss is the same. Men came from the abyss, but after being chained to flame, could no longer exist within it. We lost our home like many of the others in game. Especially the painted world inhabitants. All of the bloated head people in the abyss did not become that way because the abyss is evil, they became that way because they were chained to flame, and flame withers in the cold dark. The abyss now rejects them as something foreign, something part fire. But fire belongs to the gods, so you can serve them or rot in the now hostile abyss.
The secret ending I believe resolves all this, the hollow lord ending is a ruse crafted by gwyn's descendants to lead you and maintain control even in a dark age. Escaping to the painted world is the only way to escape the generations of lies passed down.
