An Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim discussion about whether or not being a vampire is worth it in the Elder Scrolls universe… Would you accept this gift?

  1. as someone who hasnt left her arpartment for 3 days now and had the BEST time during lockdown i think i would manage the isolation part

  2. Only if there were a strain of vampire that is so distanced from Molag Bal that their existence is an insult to him. I think there’s one strain dedicated to one of the good daedra, so maybe that one, otherwise no.

  3. I always feel like its not worth it probably my play style im locked into being tanky

  4. Oh no, the sun is a minor inconvenience, idk if super Powers, enternal life (the best kind of immortality as you can chose to die if you dont want to live anymore) and immunity to all diseases are worth the minor inconvinience of not regenersting stamina under the sun

  5. It is fun if you can overlook a few downsides that are annoying. Mage fighting because of fire. Feeding so you can use town vendors. Good for early game but when you level high the benefits lack. Best to let the count change you into a vampire so you can transform.

  6. I mean, it's Skyrim. There are many more bandits, necromancers, frostsworn and whatever than normal people living in cities, there is actually no risk you'll end up feeding on someone you care about.

Furthermore you can't clean up a bandit camp that in a matter of weeks it's already repopulated by other people who don't even have a name! On the other hand you kill a citizen and no one will take his place, ever 😂

They should breed vampires just to keep bandits in check 😂

  7. Yes 100 yes i literally never play the game without becoming a vampire lord first makes the game 10x easier

  8. Three words that are argument enought to me to refuse: "Molag Bal's claim" – sure, I hate "witch-hunting" Vigil of Stendarr with urge to kill them on sight, and their offshoot Dawnguard is not exatly win in my eyes either, but even I can see a "lesser evil"

  9. Na 💯% worth it. Go vamp, it's the shiz. Everyone harps on werewolf being the best but they obviously havent been a vampire for long. #teamvamp lol

  10. there’s a thousand theoretical ways around all of the downsides of vampirism, but i think most of us massively overestimate our ability to apply them. it’s not like we would get a menu with all our effects and new powers; we’d have to experiment and practice to be able to do ANYTHING, and that applies to magic, too. there’s no promise we’d be naturally gifted at magic and there is some reason to believe that magic is simply impossible for some people; i mean, skyrim features a character that can’t even get a staff to work, and we generally consider staves and scrolls to be the non-magician’s way of using magic.
so, magic is difficult or inaccessible, our vampire powers aren’t immediately usable, everyone would shun or hate us for even the suspicion of vampirism, and we live in a world so hostile (by our standards) that simply traveling to the next town could result in death. so, two scenarios: we’re an established member of society, with a job, place to live, and some relationships already. you continue about your business totally normally, cover up more during the day and study magic in secret while you try not to get caught.
scenario 2 is that we just got isekai’d into tamriel and immediately made a vampire. despite this meaning we have more knowledge about vampirism and the world, this is absolutely the worst scenario. you’re broke, homeless, alone, have no idea how living in the world of tamriel actually works, and now dealing with all the downsides of vampirism. your best bet at this point is probably gonna be breaking into someone’s house, turning them, and fabricating a reason why you’re now living with them despite nobody knowing you. for most of us, that’s probably a less than 1% success rate, but assuming it works out you still need to integrate into society, because money is everything and you need to find a way to make some, fast

  11. I always wonder, would there be a way around the whole sun bit. What if a vampire would just wear a really close suit of armour or clothing, a vampire version of a burqa. Would that help in any way?

  12. Lving forever sounds great until you realize that you might have to eventually live through another Oblivion Crisis, this time without a living Septim to stop Dagon.

Not to mention, the only personal deal breaker lore-wise of being a vampire is being tied to Molaag Bal. Most Daedra are inherently evil, but Bal has that extra ick factor on specific topics. Namely consent amd lack thereof.
