Edit 1: “Here’s to You” is actually by Ennio Morricone and Joan Baez. It’s part of the soundtrack of the film “Sacco & Vanzetti”

Today we’re taking a look at the final era of the Metal Gear series, in all it’s messy, fumbling, beautiful glory.

  1. I dont know if you bring this up at some point but the number 108 has significance to Buddhism. In Japan the chine a bell 108 times to end the year and 108 times to welcome the new year. So it being referenced as Snake awakens from a coma likely is signaling a new beginning spiritually for Big Boss.

  2. Its a great game. But they should have called it: ORE COG TOUGH and should have had nothing to do with mgs, the story is poopy, if this game was just about a dude making his own thriving pmc it would have been great

  3. Just don't be so naïve as to believe that Kojima was just an innocent developer who got on the bad side of the evil Konami corpos.
No, the man has an ego, and an extremely inflated sense of self-importance. (If you doubt this, just count the number of times his name or likeness appears throughout MGSV. Or consider the title of his new studio.) I don't doubt that both sides are to blame.

  4. "Through Snake's eyes." Eye. 😛 Fantastic analysis video, seriously though. I also watched your Death Stranding video. You do good stuff here.

  5. I absolutely love metal gear analysis, i have probably listened two more content discussing this series than any other.

If you enjoyed this youtubers content, there is another fantastic review slash analysis by ask your uncle

  6. Pequod is V's chopper. The one that got shot down in GZ is called "Morpho" same as Paz's butterfly

  7. Oh god. No. GTMO was NEVER a blacksite. Christ. The CIA didn't run interrogations there—the Army did, in accordance to the Field Manual. US laws and Constitution has always applied to GTMO. GTMO housed those detained by the US, awaiting trial for war crimes, and crimes committed against the US. Those that weren't tried, were held due to their participation in hostilities—those people were returned to their country of origin, most were prosecuted and convicted for their crimes by those nations.

CIA blacksites were located in Afghanistan, where torture was also prohibited under US law.

  8. I played MGS V during Covid for the first time. Let me tell you that mission where you kill all of your soldiers because of the virus hit differently. Also it is crazy for me how many missions I remember from watching this video. I'm usually a player that plays something once and then is done with it and a week later barely remembers anything. While watching the video I paused very often to tell myself the memories I have of this mission, if it was great or how much I loved a "map" or base. I have only played MGS I, II and V because I did not own the right platform for any of the other games when they came out. I hope to play the other MGS games if they ever get released on PC.

  9. MGS5 is a trash game You cannot replace the voice actor for snake… It does not even feel like MGS to me. After #4 the series was over. I'm hoping and praying they will remake metal gear solid 5 with David Hayter.. to all the people who like this game that is completely fine. I just wish y'all would stop calling it MGS.

  10. I often can't last more than five minutes with most of these videos because the narrator is – and I'm trying to be nice – a socially-stunted person that has a horrible voice or speaks in off-putting cadence. You are wonderful, though. Gonna start this video for real right now.

  11. I appreciate the love and work that went into this and i e joyed it!

That said i feel like you missed the mark on mg survive. I'll update this later with more but short version its designed around coop like peacewalker. It's a tower defense co-op game with idler base building.

I don't blame you for not engaging with the game more, online is dead and a lot of the things are real time delay while you're obviously trying to finish a video this game barely is relevant to, but like when you talk about reused assets, you literally go to the code talker mansion in the latter half of mg S.

Also for resource farming, not only can you build and capture various types of wildlife for renewable food and buff recipes, with multiple different types and rare variants, you also can send your rescued troops out on supply runs a la mgs 5.

I also only saw you using green tier weapons and only fighting basic zombies, there's special zombies and a lot more weapon variety than what you experienced. You're supposed to use melee at all stages of the game and some of the best weapons are melee. For example you say "why use heavy melee weapons when I have a bow" but you might need a melee for its elemental damage or to knock the armor off a heavy enemy to allow a headshot kill.

Not that guns don't also have access to elemental ammos but thats expensive to upkeep unless you were doing the Extreme coop missions.

The co-op missions also give you a lot of resources for free so you can set up your lanes, build traps, turrets, etc without necessarily having to use your own stuff.

It was definitely not a metal gear solid game, but I had a lot of fun running around in the Boss' outfit calling in Metal Gear Ray to steam roll zombies while I used my flaming jet hammer or electric Sniper rifle to destroy mini bosses.

Also for the skill tree the skill tree you were doing was only the first one, there's a whole other set with 4 different specializations afterwards

  12. I always found the narrative of the game cool but I could never seem to finish MGSV even after buying it both on Xbox And PS5, What makes it even crazier to me is that I’ve Platinumed Death Stranding Directors Cut but I just can’t get through this game💀💀💀

  13. MGSV feels like a playable movie, I started playing it about 2 weeks ago and already cranked about almost 70 hours just because of how fun it is

  14. Been replaying on PC with some light mods, mostly quality of life stuff-like removing the helicopter ride at the beginning of EVERY mission and removing the time limits on development, as well as as Substance mode being available for every mission and man the gameplay is so good.
