This game nailed its joyful platforming and fun cuteness down to a T, so this scene of Astro sacrificing himself and getting fixed really succeeded in getting me teary-eyed. It amazes me that Team Asobi took a trope that so many people got tired of years ago and managed to make it feel natural and appropriate.
This was cuddly and awesome, Astro died but can be repaired back at the end of the showdown ever, like fixing a toy when i completed the game last month on broadcast.

This is just the ending of WALL-E but with no thematic or storytelling significance. No buils-up, and no payoff. Awful ending.
