THANK YOU for 8K guys ❤ Your love and support truly mean the world and I can’t wait to continue sharing these chaotic adventures with you all. The learning curve on this one will be WILD, but we will learn it, power through and ring those freaking Bells. Also, would it really be a Mati series premiere if I didn’t off the first friendly NPC? 🤣…. I am a monster
Your Souls videos are the only content on YT that I will give a like to before watching. Keep it up man, you are one of the most genuine people on this platform and I wish you only the best!
Also, I have a working title for your subscribers: The Holy Cannolis.
Can I rally my health back xD ;)) missing bb already…..imagine when he looks around more 👀
Love you Mati! 💚 Peace!!
Ahhh shit here we go again …
EVERYONE DO NOT SPOIL THIS MAN PLAYTHOUGH!!!! And further games to come! We can give hints and guides but nothing that will spoil this amazing story and adventure cause it spoiled it for me to see his reaction on the last boss in bloodborne i was so ready to see his face and reaction but runied it for me and this great guy!
I've been waiting since you almost finished ER for this series to start!
Some tips I think will help you and some stuff you should know:
1. I'm pretty sure you are fat rolling or are doing a medium roll. You probably will have to level up endurance a bit to allow you to wear medium to heavy sets without issues. Light rolls are by far the best for damage immunity and it feels much better overall so if you can, try to have light rolls, Medium rolls are fine too but not as good.
2. I would avoid using offensive magic or pyromancy throughout this run because it is very strong and can make a lot of boss fights easy which ruins the challenge/experience. The spells in this game aren't balanced super well so a basic fireball spell can easily kill a boss after a few hits. However defensive spells that give personal damage buffs, resists, etc are super useful and don't really ruin the experience. To compare it to ER, most offensive spells are like using the Black Knife Tiche summon which makes the game much easier.
3. Parrying in DS1 is really useful and something you should learn. You should try to parry right as an enemy swings towards you and not when they are about to hit you. It's really weird but you'll understand what I mean once you do it more. Make sure to pause after you parry for like .2s then light attack up close to do the critical. Something else you can do is also circle enemies and just backstab since the AI turns slower than other games. Try it out on the basic enemies in Firelink Shrine.
4. When you use humanity, you lose it on death just like souls. You can use humanity to kindle bonfires that you use which gives you extra flasks when you rest at that specific bonfire or you can reverse hollowing.
5. Reverse hollowing is basically you turning back into a human which opens you up to being invaded by other players and special NPCs in certain areas. It also increases item discovery as well from what I remember. I would recommend that if you want to fight certain special NPC invaders and want to use reverse hollowing, you should play in offline mode. Unfortunately there are a lot of hackers in DS1 and it really sucks to lose humanity/souls to something like that. I actually was invaded by a naked hacker who beat me to death when I was near firelink and just starting to play through the game like you!
6. Attunement effects how many spell slots you have.
7. There isn't any way to respec your character in DS1 so make sure you use your levels wisely. There is a way to duplicate souls really easily if you really wanted to make a restated character but you would obviously lose out on all the items you had and have to recollect them and fight all the bosses you fought too.
Anyways I hope some of these tips help and I am so excited to watch you go through this game! Keep up the great content and I can't wait for the next episode!
You got an extra 5 flasks by "kindling" the bonfire. You can do this at every bonfire. Doing this will "level" each bonfire in a sense. It is important because your base flask amount is 5, to get more you will need to kindle the current bonfire you are at.
Hey Mati!! Love to see you playing more souls games, I'll be here for all of them!! Bubba Gump hat is iconic ;p
I thought you were doing PS5 Demon Soul 😞, anyway I will catch you then.
Come on, don't ruin the playthrough by messing with the default brightness settings. It's called Dark Souls, not Washed Out Greyish Souls.
Honestly, all it does is wash out the colors and f-cks up the white balance.
Why do a lot of ppl always max out the brightness settings disregarding the developers. 😭
I’m about 20 hours in to my first play through. It has been an amazing ride so far for me and I can’t wait to watch your adventure!
Locking on is unreliable in this game. It will get you killed against many bosses and mobs.
At long last, the one that started it all! It's both amazing, legendary (creator of an entire subgenre of RPG "the souls-like games"; and a game that reshifted the industry towards harder games "the dark souls of…") and a tiny bit dated, especially if like me you started with Bloodborne and DS3, two games that perfected FromSoft formula. With you having started with ER and then BB, you'll need to accept this is more challenging and more of a game changing of its time than an actual game that can be enjoyed entirely. But yes, it does have its moments for sure! And the atmosphere and NPC we love were already there from the get go!
Enjoy my man!
This is my favorite game in the series. This and res 2 has been a joy. Seeing you explore around was very nostalgic. Hope you enjoy this adventure!
A thing you might not know in bloodborne the dead dude that hit his head on the gate next to Ludwig boss room drops 5 blood blood vials everytime you kill him, he responds infinitely
might want to lower your equip load to get the fast roll. Makes the game a bit more fun
Ayyy so hyped to see you through this one, I actually recently replayed this game and while it will show it’s age in a few areas, it’s worth all the adventure and wonder I promise. Also when I initially played the game the roll and speed caught me off guard too, just take off some armor and you’ll be able to roll faster. Alsooooo there’s a very very very strong knight in the undead parish that has something I think you’d like. I won’t spoil but you’ll know him when you see him, aaaand be ready to dodge a lot. Anywho be safe friend, don’t you dare go hollow <3
IM EXCITEDD !!
Also your dodgeing slow cause you equip load is to heavy lol
Amazing start. Love this game and series. Don't forget to try DS 3, it's really good has a lot of similar mechanics to DS 1 and Elden Ring.
Mati: looks better than i thought, omg I love that!
Narrator: Yes, indeed
great moment 😂
Start over without the Master Key. Seriously, the magic of this game is discovering all the crazy ways the areas connect. The KEY WILL ROB YOU!
Today, John Dark Souls was reborn once again
Congrats on the 8k, bro! This vid makes me happy. 😁
Firelink area is definitely the best place to practice parrying and riposting (not the graveyard 😉).
Hey Mati, congrats on 8K!🎉 Started my 1st play-through a few days ago – I didn’t realize we could further customize the face, so ended up with one of the default guys that looks like Ryan Reynolds.😂 After the Lordran hub, I went straight uphill without any explorations – I’m coming back for those skeletons!😤 The graphics was such a punch in the face for me, now I’m getting used to it. I’m glad it’s no issue for you.
Yaaaahooo straight to the graveyard to suffer just like me
Not plaid all of dark souls still learning things myself. Only advice I have is fire link in like your in the middle of the map and everything split off of it so you can go to late game location from the start of the game so if it takes more then a couple swipes to kill something your at the wrong place. Good luck
In deed, with FromSoft are direction, their games hardly look "outdated" 👌👌
Ahhhh yes, while playing this game you will definitely get nightmares when you go to bed
Hey Maria's Gago! Love your vids! I may be young but I beat ds1 once,ds3 2 times, sekiro 7 times, and Elden ring 4 times
I’m hyped I’ll actually sit through the whole video to watch 😂 this is my 2nd favorite souls game 😍
🤦 std means STANDARD
Pro tip for playing DS1 in 2022: PLAY OFFLINE. Most of the community has played this game a zillion times and knows the game inside and out; the messages are 90% going to be unhelpful trolls and inside jokes. If you get stumped, you know your comments sections got you. ❤
Ur character kinda looks like Leon or cloud😂
You're gonna want to light roll. It's a must in DS1.
DS1 does not have a Respec, that's a thing from DS2 onwards for the Souls games.
Never put any points into Resistance, it's a worthless stat. END or HP will always be better.
Having humanity in the counter on the top left will increase enemy droprates, maxing out at 10. Some weapons also scale off that number. The number resets to 0 when you die, if you reclaim your bloodstain without dying it'll go back up to whatever it was at, if you lose your souls you'll lose your humanity there too. (If you farm enemies in a area before its boss is dead, after a while that number will go up. You can farm up to 10 humanity in each area this way, but it gets slower as you get more from that mechanic.)
Parries in DS1 and DeS have 1-frame start up for the parry frames instead of a small delay, so do it as late as possible. If you start the parry before you get hit, you'll still get the parry.
bloodborne was my favorite souls game but then i played this one and my opinion changed so i am very excited for you
It's funny that your on your 3rd souls game and are now comparing bonfires to sites of grace and souls to runes, which is completely backwards in my head. Really enjoying your fromsoft journey and can't wait for this one to unfold.
Tips for the road ahead.
Shields are useful again and don't let dumb commenters try to tell "your not playing the game if you use a shield".
I do not believe you can respec is DS1. Someone may correct me if I'm wrong. By the time you are able to upgrade weapon you should really pick your build (str, dex, magic, faith).
Lvling endurance also increases equip load. Also you shouldn't need to bring any stat higher than 40. 40 would be the "ideal" end game goal for main dmg stat and vitality.
Idk if this comment will be overlooked but u highly recommend playing the 3 dark souls games in a row for continuity sake. It's fun
Without any spoilers: You do miss out on more than just his dialogue and his items by killing Oscar, unfortunately you miss out on something (leaving that purposefully vague) later on in the game. I won't tell you or even hint at it, however once you get to the point in which the 'something' would have occurred then I will comment and tell you what it was.
I just realized I forgot to like and comment… bro lol
Can’t wait for the rest of this series, can already tell you’re gonna love it!
Just so there’s not another Oscar situation, NPCs in this game tend to stand or sit still. If it’s running or walking at you, or you recognise it as an enemy, feel free to attack but generally you don’t wanna kill NPCs. If you’re unsure, try locking on everywhere, you can’t lock on to friendly people.
There’s a LOT of beloved characters in this game so remember to exhaust all their dialogue!
If you’re wanting the game to feel a little faster I recommend levelling endurance some more to get a better equip load or taking some armour off so you’re less than 25% equip load, the roll you get is much faster and worth it imo.
From Firelink you currently have 3 possible directions to go, but 2 are a little high level for you right now, I recommend going up.
Tip: get a repair box ASAP, will save a lot of pain in the long run.
