If you use the Lens of Truth outside of Ikana Canyon by a ring if rocks you'll see a dead soldier asking for help. Give him a blue potion you'll get the stone mask. With the stone mask you can walk freely around the pirate fortress. They don't see you, except Avril and her crew in the hookshot room. That's it.
You'll need the mask of scents to find mushrooms for kotake (but make sure you find her sister on the first day again or she'll be absent from her shop looking for her.) Wear the mask in the lost woods and swipe a bottle at the purple clouds you see. Only need one. You can buy blue potions afterwards for 100 rupees.
Try to get more empty bottles after you beat the dungeon they will help you get through the bottom of the well in ikana canyon there are a bunch of gibdos that ask for random things.
