Did you know that I like taking a concept that isn’t really that explored in the text of a Xeno game and then running with it beyond all logical extremes? No? Have you watched any of my videos before?

  1. Literally such a great video for the holidays. The thought at the end about potential food control through how unpredictable alrestian farming and crop growing can be was both insane and really thought provoking. Crazy how a discussion about alrests holidays can lead to a new potential lore discovery, god i love xenoblade 😅. Anyways merry Christmas luxin!

  2. Santa Klaus is coming to town… 🎵🎶
Edit: No, really, both having names derived from the same source, both being bearers of "Gifts", both having evil counterparts in Zanza and Krampus… and once you factor in "World Architect" vs "Saint" Nicholas taking on a role started by the "god" Odin?

  3. Worth considering, the world tree was made by modern humans in modern society; I don’t think it’s that silly to assume that it is designed to turn on Christmas lights during Christmas, alrest then celebrates “the day the world tree’s lights go weird colors for some reason”.

  4. 16:22 one would need to see what fruit or veg is grown on each titan and what the irl counterpart is in addition to what their local foods are like

  5. I would argue that due to the supposed uniform weather and the arbitrary migratory nature of the Titans that the crops wouldn't even follow a yearly cycle to begin with, it'd just grow and grow year round, so farmers would acclimate to just harvesting when it's ready regardless of their neighbors or the 'calendar'. Stretch that concept and there would be no seasonal anythings for anyone to recognize and celebrate, the only exception being the full/new moon.

I think the lack of a creation myth is because of the Titans as well. They are long-lived enough to bring their creating into the future (meaning man never needed to record it on anything) but old and senile enough to not bother recounting it to anyone, until they get too big to bother talking to the lessers either.

  6. i was literally just brainstorming made-up xenoblade holidays the other day xD luxin always on the same wavelength as me haha

  7. A couple thoughts on the equatorial locale of the world tree. The alrest calendar would likely be lunar since there would be very little variation of the days length. And I could be not correctly understanding, but I believe the equator doesn’t get the cyclone storms. They start small near the equator and spin out to the tropics and beyond. It is still possible that the cloud sea negates them forming at all though

  8. Considering the far weaker seasons from being on the equator, it's possible Alrest might not even use a solar calendar at all. They could however use a lunar calendar, since the phases of the moon would still be a visible cycle. It's possible that they count notice the arc the sun forms in the sky shifting in its own cycle and could define 12 or 13 months based on that (12 especially since the people making the calendars are math nerds, which let's be honest, they probably are). However since the month would be much more visible than the year, rather than stretching the length of a month to fit a full year, they might instead compress the year to fit a whole number of months.

This is assuming the situation described in another comment, where some Earth humans when designing the beanstalk adding an Easter egg by making the glyphs become Christmas colors once a year, didn't happen. Otherwise they could very well end up accidentally making a solar calendar based entirely on that.

  9. The amount of work needed to get the lip-syncing that perfect in the Xenosaga section is impressive! Great video, as always!

  10. someone should make some fanart of X characters introducing christianity to the main universe , and have then disproportionally enthusiastic about it

  11. About seasons – it’s stated when the party is travelling to Tantal that it is currently “early fall” so Alrest definitely knows what seasons are. However, considering it’s on the equator so seasons wouldn’t have much of an effect that makes me think that it’s unlikely Alrest has any seasons based holidays.

  12. So in regards to months in Alrest, Rex asks for the date at the start of chapter 2 to rig up his comapass like device, and Pyra says it's Amamothober in English but October in Japanese, so they probably have similar if not the same months as us

  13. pandoria mentions as you go into tantal that it "gets cold even in early autumn" if I remember correctly, so seasons do clearly have some impact on alrest
