    So, about Nagito's Luck:

It's a fair trade, but always in Nagito's favor.
Whenever something extremely lucky happens to him, something extremely unlucky is bound to happen soon after, with the reverse being also true, as if something extremely unlucky happens to him, then something extremely lucky would be bound to happen soon after.
It's pretty much a sequence of "Bad Luck, Good Luck, Bad Luck, Good Luck, Bad Luck, Good Luck, etc…"

Some examples of his lucky-unlucky trade off's are:
1-Nagito and his parents coming back from a family vacation at San Cristóbal Island, only for the airplane to end up being hijacked. With both the hijacker and Nagito's parents being killed in front of him after a small meteor crashed into the airplane, leaving him to inherit all of his parents' fortune and become free to do whatever he wished, as he had no other living relatives. (Bad luck: Hijacking of the plane, parents killed, and left alone with no one; Good luck: Meteor falling precisely on his position to save him, being unharmed from the whole ordeal and all of the inheritance and freedom that comes along with it)

2-During middle school, Nagito was kidnapped by a serial killer, and then was later saved by the police (it was implied that the killer let him go after they found out nobody would pay the ransom), however in the bag he was held in, there was a winning lottery ticket for three million yen. (Bad Luck: Was kidnapped for hours and most likely traumatized for the ordeal; Good Luck: Didn't suffer any physical harm and won the lottery)

3-He was diagnosed with lymphoma and frontotemporal dementia and was given a life expectancy of 6 months to a year, but shortly after won a random lottery and was invited to attend Hope's Peak Academy, and was even able to outlive the expectancy by sheer luck. (Bad Luck: Dementia, Cancer and Short Life Expectancy; Good Luck: Won a country wide random lottery and outlived his expected time of death)

4-At one point in the anime, he was on another plane which crashed, with Nagito not only being the only survivor, but also being unharmed, leaving him alone on a deserted island paradise away from the troubles of the school AND with everything needed to survive. (Bad Luck: Plane crash, away from civilization and stranded on the middle of nowhere; Good Luck: Unharmed, every piece of resource needed to survive at his reach and unaffected by the problems happening at school)

    And many other examples.

However, one thing to be noted is, if the event which he's experiencing is small enough, then only a luck occurrence is gonna happen 10 out of 10 times.
Like when in the anime, while Akane and Nekomaru were fighting, not a single debri even comes close to hitting him, passing always just an inch from his face. Or when he simply won the monopoly-like game that the class was playing, with the highest score of them all, through sheer luck, gaining the highest dice side on many rolls in one go.
Or when he wanted a drink from a vending machine, and just when he though the machine was broken, a truck fell from the sky on top of said vending machine, and released all of the drinks he wanted.

But finally, themain detail, and most important aspect about his luck is that, while said talent seems to protect him from death without fail, it can and will cause him great suffering and has killed many people around him. After all, the most lucky thing to exist is to avoid death, but also, he wouldn't be able to suffer if he was dead, so another fair trade.
