Was it as bad, or as good as we remember? We take a deep dive retrospective look into the story, characters, controversy, gameplay, and world of this controversial Playstation exclusive.

  1. Okay I had several issues with this game. #1 druckman lied to us. He mislead us to think that Joel would be alive.
2 they killed Joel off in a dumb way.
3 Ellie being so ungrateful that Joel chose to keep her alive than find a cure is so infuriating and makes us hate Ellie.
4 Ellie hunting Abby on the whole made no sense especially since she let her live after losing 2 fingers.
5 Abby side quest with the he/she made no sense.
6 lev is responsible for the slaughter of her entire clan.
7 all that work to save the sister all for her to get killed.
8 Dina was boring and pointless
9 Ellie justification for wanting to kill all of the fireflies herself although was dumb.

  2. Joel didn’t deserve Ellie being pissed at him. He did what any Father who loves his daughter would do. It is in our genetic code to pick our children over the world. Not to mention he already lost his bio daughter which tugged on all the damn ptsd throughout the first game.

I have two daughters and I am not sacrificing them under no circumstances. You will have to end me to make that happen, period. Idk if it’s a lack of parenthood that has y’all thinking anything different. Thats how my Father is with me and my siblings as well. That being said if I was made to think I could cure this virus but then I got there and was about to be sacrificed without even being told I would have to be. My Father then did what Joel did. I would absolutely understand and even appreciate it.

Idk what makes ppl think that somehow their progress or survival is more important than an individual simply because it will save “everybody”. If anything humans have proved time and time again with all the war, death, and worse. With All the planet destruction through pollution, that they don’t deserve any sympathy anyway.

So yeah if my daughter could survive making the cure, sure let’s do it but if not then you’re all on your own.

Why ppl keep making it seem like oh, ellie should be made at him. I will never understand.

  3. My take on this is its just not nearly as good as part 1. And not for any stupid political or sjw reasons or whatever the fuck that stupid controvery is. If youre someone who dislikes this game bc of lgbt characters or abby being masculine or anything like that i dont know what to tell you. Basically to me this game is just far too long. It's a good 25-30 hours on a first playthrough which for a game of this genre really starts to drag. I feel like if you take the best levels from Ellie and Abbie together and cut out the rest youd have something on par with LOU1. The additions to the stealth and combat i find to be largely negative. Not game ruining by any stretch, but certainly annoying, the dogs in particular. To pad out this increased runtime we have a lot more combat sequences. Which is fine on the surface but the best encounters in the first game were always the clickers and other monsters, not the human factions. This game has so many long drawn out combat sequences with other factions that it just gets really boring at points to me. Also the whole california epilouge did not need to be there. At all. It felt tacked on and out of place. Story wise i dont really have an issue with anything. This game actually made me hate Ellie by the end and grow to sympathize with Abby a lot. Which im sure the game is trying to do and i have no issue with it. Nor do i have issue with killing joel off so early he got whats coming to him. Theres just too much filler in this game, the pacing is all over the place, and it gets repetitive. Its still a very good game. But the first one is just tighter and the bond between joel and ellie is just so much better then anything in this game

  4. I cant believe how you left out one of thee most key parts to the ending. How Ellie wasn't just now alone without her family, but had lost the only connection she had left with Joel too in the guitar as she lost her fingers and could no longer play.

Also thought the writing was terrible for Joel's parts. All they had to do was put some dialogue in when hes speaking with Ellie about how broken losing Sarah left him and how she helped stitch him back together, and that was why he couldn't let her die. Would have made Ellie sympathize with his decision and made forgiving him much easier.

  5. The narrative for the series as a whole is about letting go. Every character has a choice of letting go of the things they hold onto the most. Those choices affect if others will also choose to let go of what they hold onto. It's not all as basic as revenge

  6. I recently watched PewDiePie's stream of this game. The characters were not as interesting as they were in the first game (for the most part). An example is when Dina and Ellie banter with each other: I simply wasn't engaged and thought it was boring. Same opinion applies to the other characters in the game to, simply boring.

  7. I honestly agree with everything this video said I feel like we were feeling the same emotions throughout every scene including the Ellie boss fight. I just wanted Abby to die there haha

  8. Part 2 isn’t perfect story wise but the gameplay is A1..people have a hard time dealing with the death of a beloved person even in video games apparently 😂part 2 doesn’t deserve much of the hate it gets from the extra emotional people.

  9. Gamers have zero media literacy it’s actually disgusting. the story of last of us 2 is amazing and well thought out

  10. The ammo/gun customization made no sense u upgrade from 6 to 10 rounds for instance in handgun but yet ur load out is 10-6 how do u carry half a clip same abbys handgun and rifle how is the upgrade 12-9 rifle rounds it should be 10-10 for Ellie’s and 12-12 for Abby’s rifle its so dumb

  11. If anything. The GAMEPLAY in Part 2 is way better than 1. Especially being able to lie prone and crawl, crafting and using silencers and explosive arrows.

  12. Am i crazy for thinking a zombie apocalypse world wouldnt have many lesbians in it?

And why does Abby have the last supply of Trenbolone? What happens when she runs out of juice?

  13. I only watched the show, so I have some questions as an MD. Brain biopsies are done every day, why couldn't they do that? It wouldn't have killed Ellie, there's no way a surgeon knows how to make a vaccine and how would they culture it. Why didn't they wait for joel to wake up and fully inform both parties about what was going to happen? I have a lot more medical questions but that ending absolutely made no sense medically, the stakes were high just because there was a lack of medical knowledge? Did the game explain it better?

  14. this game is perfection and it blows my mind the lenghts people will go to just to argue that it’s poorly written just because they’re unhappy with Joel’s death and the fact that you get to see the “bad guy’s” persepective

  15. I don't get the argument that "Joel had it coming, knowing what he did in the first game". What about Tommy? He took down a lot of people in part 1 and also in part 2. Yet he lived. What about Ellie/Dina? They both lived despite taking down hundereds of people out there. What about Abby? She "had it coming"? You know how many people Abby took down? Yet she lived. That's why the argument about "the need to get rid of Joel form the story" is moot.

  16. in summary, the gaqme is good when it ahs jeol in lmao, flashbacks and mourns about joel, joel death, everything else is trash

  17. One thing that I never understood is that joel and ellie's split seems to hinge on a retcon of the original's ending because every time I played tlou1 I always thought when ellie woke up and was told there was "no cure" by Joel it always came off to me that Ellie never believed him.

  18. I honestly believe that the entire premise of this game shouldn't have been a thing to begin with. It should have been about an entirely different cast of characters in a part of this world we haven't seen yet. Joelnand Ellie's story already ended in part 1. We didn't need anything more.

  19. This review is frustrating. Plot points missed and dismissed as poor writing. Not like a plot point and saying the writing is bad. Couldn’t get through it.

  20. I don’t agree that Joel deserved death. Everyone in that world had to do what they had to do to survive. That doesn’t deserve death though.

  21. I respect your review but my brother in christ play the game again and think about it a little and after doing that write a script, Like how the didn't you notice a ton of character changes that were logical and you just wrote it off as "bad writing" it's not hard to be honest my man

  22. Joel deserved to die? Sure in today’s world yes, but in that world no one has their hands clean so you can’t say he deserved to die when most in that world likely did something where they deserve to die. I understand you’re looking at it from your point of view but I haven’t had it the easiest in life so I feel like it’s easier for me to see both sides. Everyone is selfish and if they say they aren’t they are lying.

Also, off topic, but make more videos! I don’t know how hectic your life is but you are a great narrator and I know you’d blow up if you did this full time. I’m assuming you don’t already have other channels of course. Hope you the best.

  23. Joel dies
    Abby lives
    Ellie loses your finger
Relationships are broken apart due to this
    You play as Abby

The depression of playing this game way to much, it pissed me off whenever I played as Abby and legit could not continue, I can’t sympathise for a character who literally bashed someone’s head in and disrespected the body, Abby’s whole group did this and took part.

Revenge is the only answer if this was a choice based game from Ellie’s view.

  24. Joel did the logical thing saving Ellies life. You'd have to be a complete moron to sacrifice the only known living person in the smallest of chances a vaccine MIGHT be found. It's ridiculous when you think about it. It wasn't like they were at some world class medical facility with dozens of doctors and scientist, it was a small group of rag tag mercenaries in a run downed old medical facility. They'd have a better shot at her having offspring and then at least you might have more people that are immune to test and experiment on. Ellie would/should be smart enough to know this and wouldn't have been so angry at Joel about it… the way she acts about it never felt right. Even in the 1st game Joel should have just straight up told her why he did what he did.
