Opting out of PSSR, Guerrilla Games has outfitted Horizon Forbidden West and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered with its own upscaling solution. Oliver and Alex share notes on the upscaler and its remarkable image quality, all the modes are analysed and thanks to sterling work from Nixxes, we can compare Guerrilla’s upscaler with PC mainstays FSR 3.1 and, of course, Nvidia DLSS.

  1. I was wondering that Sony brings more game to PC which technically is Microsoft as it usually is Windows, why don’t they bring those game to Xbox?

  2. I understand devs who don't want to allow users to completely turn off all motion blur. I imagine VFX artists screaming at a meeting that it's very important, and that they should respect their creative intent 😂

  3. How can there be such a discrepancy in PSSR rendering between Horizon and Avatar??

  4. I thought zero dawn was really cool and forbidden west was ok but they made Aloy arrogant and unlikable and drove the franchise into the ground. I'm so sick of hearing about Horizon and Aloy. They took a cool concept and made it incredibly lame.

  5. Wow, the graphical leap to the PS5 Pro is just mind-blowing. It looks so incredibly sharp and amazing. I absolutely have to run to the store right now and spend nearly 1000 euros on a PS5 Pro. 😂😂😂

  6. Guerilla Games should open a school or "Education Branch" for future Tech Devs.
These guys are wizards. It's sad that the entire industry is struggling and just a handful of studios is like:
"Don't worry we got this. We use every Mhz of this Hardware. Kinda easy actually"

  7. At 16:04 we can see that horizon FW, like the first one, has issues with LODs when DLSS is turned on. The same happened with HZD and it's super annoying. DLSS is good but we loose detail because LODs usage is based on initial render resolution and not the final upscaled one.

  8. If you have to stand right at the tv to really spot the difference, is it really worth it? But it does make me excited for the 6.

  9. I'm getting PS5 Pro fatigue here . Do you really have to RE-visit the SAME games when a refresh console is launched ??? Imagine if this was done every year when new graphics card comes up.

  10. Is it true that HFR lowers the image quality of games even if ure playing on a Resolution mode ? For Example RE 4. Does the Resolution mode + RT (best image quality) have a lower image quality when HFR is activated ?

  11. The Horizon games give me hope for the Pro. I'm not regretting my purchase but the machine has been a little underwhelming. Outlaws just released a patch that let's you turn off the PiSSR and use FSR 3. FSR isn't perfect, (it doesn't handle her hair as well) but it is generally better with environments. But Horizon looks amazing on my LG G4. At least the 1st party stuff should really shine.😊

  12. id5 and Decima are in the good books, can someone just take unreal5 out back and put it out of its misery.

  13. Alex mentioned that you should always use upscaling on PC. I disagree. At least when it comes to Horizon games. HFW looks absolutely stunning @ 4K with DLAA and max settings. Zero upscaling artifacts. This is some of the purists image quality you will get while still be over 90 FPS maxed out on high end gpus.

  14. Side by side looks exactly the same yet DF are saying they look different…weird. Only thing that looks different is the grass.

  15. The main thing for me is that they eliminated all the oversharpening and edge ringing in Forbidden West. It looks so much more natural and pleasing to the eye now, in addition to the greater image quality and clarity. Stunning games.

  16. Still the greatest technical masterpiece in gaming nowadays. It both looks AND runs better than any other game out there. It's ridiculous.

  17. Alex is sad 😥in this video because ppl keep sending him stuff about Threat Interactive… hahah

  18. This is the issue with the PS5 pro the minute nature of the enhancements are not even worthwhile for hardcore players and digital foundry watchmen, let alone the general gamers.

  19. Dlss was awful at launch im sure pssr will improve massively over the next few years just in time to make the ps6 work 😂😂

  20. Damn, never been so happy I didn't buy a new console. Saved a lot of money.

  21. Decima is the best engine in gaming, and if Guerilla uses it for another FPS game I am ALL IN on that
