The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.

The game’s main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

  1. I think the "multiple personality" theory is correct, just using incorrect terminology. I think applying a mortal affliction such as mental illness into a god is incorrect, and to be thought of less as a mental disorder and more of a shaping of form. Just a bit of what I think is a more correct tweaking of terminology/thought.

  2. What if the case is that the gods are infact real but the mortal interpitation is flawed and self serving, but as a reward for such faith the gods reward each culture with their percived versions of paradise?

  3. So basically the elves are dualists. Sithis is a Satan-like character to them while man sees him as being a good (necessary) force worthy of respect. Elves are dualists/magians and men are non-dualists

  4. The people that wrote this lore had to be very learned in comparative mythology and esotericism and occult phenomena like thoughtforms. Loads of truth in this apparently fictional lore

  5. @4:48 I feel terrible, I was writing a fantasy story a few years ago and I wrote the creation myth and I must have got super unlucky to think of the exact same idea. A creator and a destoryer side on opposite sides, Chaos in between and the first god Time makes order by creating a space for creation to exist but with the promise that it comes to a total end once Time is finished.

  6. 42:59
Considering the entire reality exists in the godhead, I expect everything in the series can be considered HEAD-canon.

  7. I have such a niche build i will literally never share it with anyone. Yesterday i went 57-0 with a hybrid necromancer with 45k health. I will take this build to the grave. Pun intended. Only one of the sets i use was mentioned in this vid. It sometimes pays to not follow the meta. People make mistakes thinking stacking damage equals a quality pvp build. The next time you theory craft a build. Instead of asking yourself "how much damage can i fit in this window of time." Instead ask yourself "how is my opponent is feeling when fighting me." In what ways are you making your opponent panic, waste stamina, run away, crutch on certain abilities like stealth or blink. The second you change your frame of mind. You will start to make diabolical builds.

  8. Such an amazing job, I enjoyed this video so much! I havent played ESO yet and my player experience is limited to Oblivion and Skyrim, so I did not know a lot of this! Thank you for this! ☺️

  9. Stendar is one of my favorite Elder Scrolls gods just because of how his interpretation tells you so much about the culture. To the Nords he's a god of ransom, because that's more merciful than putting prisoners to the death in a culture focussed around raiding. To the elves he's the "apologist" for Men, which tells you a lot about the Aldmeri view on mercy.

  10. Did they mean for it to be so complex? What if there aren't multiple personalities, just a merging of religions through changing leadership, conquest, etc and changes brought about through misremembering, cultural factors, illiteracy… just like in the real world.

  11. Always disliked the fact that the elves basically believe themselves to be Ehlnofey… Like they used to be the immortal beings the Ehlnofey were and were simply reduced to this elven form and placed on Nirn. I mean arrogance is a pretty common Altmer thing, so I shouldn't really be surprised but… that's one of the main reasons I rarely played elves and if I did It was usually a Bosmer.

  12. Do you get it yet? Mundus is a playground for bored Et Ada, it is a game played for entertainment by the "gods", it may be called Kulpa. This is why Daedra can change, this is why the "eight divines" have no power, not through trickery, they are simply the dungeon masters. The Daedra are the players, their goal is to draw power from the worship of "mortals" of Mundus. As for the mortals? They're simply the creations of the "Aedra", they are designed specifically to not know the truth of the universe they inhabit, and all of their religions are the attempts of them to understand their environment and quantify their existence. Mundus is indeed a realm in Oblivion, probably in this instance or Kulpa a creation of the entity that some mortals refer to as Lorkhan, although the other "divines" also help to maintain and govern the laws of a realm that is more complex than any other realm of any other individual "god"… The Elder Scrolls themselves are the rules and instructions for the Kulpa, written in a language that is beyond the comprehension of the Mortals within, it is why mortals suffer from reading them and also how mortals are able to bend or exploit the rules sometimes.

  13. I think the gods, when they do mythic acts IE the teachings of Vicec they do so metaphisically. Thats to say that God actions take place in a different plane than Mundus. The way Sotha Sil describes godhead (as do the teachings of Vicec) that its like entering an other dimension (3D vs 4D) so when they do stuff that mortals can't understand it is contadictary because mortal minds simply cant comprehend it.

  14. so what you’re saying is, this is all just one big shitty excuse for bad writing and conflicting plot lines? It’s just an excuse to say, everyone is right at the same time? Damn, just pick one timeline and stick with it, please

  15. To summarise, all forms of god's are real, and are also not. Embodying the forces of chaos,
    Creating chaos
The mortals of nirn worship them as specific god like entities
In other words the mortals categorise them creating order

Man understands they are the children of the original gods and are their children
"We believe, therefore we can exist"

Elf's understand that worship itself it a primordial force of creation, by worshiping, or lack their off they can literally create god's or become them, they believe in "I believe, therefore I am"

It's a shared dream created from chaos and not

  16. He didn't write about made up gods… The way the gods are explained in elder scrolls are essentially fictional gnosticism. Which makes sense when his writing process was to do a whole bunch of psychedelic drugs connect with the Grand Aether and essentially channel information as all good artists do

  17. No mention of Dagoth Ur? Is this how you honor the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned?

He's a god. How can you omit a god? What a grand and intoxicating innocence.

  18. All N'wah false gods, this video does not honor the sixth house and the tribe unmourned (great vid)

  19. In all honesty I think the main god of the elder scrolls series is Todd Howard himself there’s talk of Talos achieving Kim and having to avoid zero suming and the God head I think the god head is Todd Howard and the truth tht causes zero summing is they realize they are just a video game

  20. So as a person who played only Skyrim I will say that there is interesting lore but also a lot of bs which is used for the convenience of the writers. This way they can mold a story to whatever they wanted. I enjoy the game and lore to an extent but it doesn't change flaws in the system. It's complicated sure but there are logical fallacies such as this line of thinking. Take the daedra, since they are uncommitted and therefore unchanged wouldn't they know the truth? I mean they knew the gods since before creation so wouldn't they know what they are like? The gods strove for identity so why would they change to whatever someone wanted? By this logic a cult can make whatever they want just by telling people to act like it's real. Also Alessa, she met Akotosh right? Why would she then sell something that isn't true? If a god granted me power and prestige then I wouldn't change for anyone. This could go on and on but hopefully it makes the point. Don't take this the wrong way, I actually enjoyed your video and attempt to tackle this subject but I think the root problem is that while you can enjoy something that is complex in design, if it fails to address basic questions then I think it just doesn't fully work for me. Again this isn't against you but against those who I think didn't fully think this out. If you care to refute this then I'll respectfully listen.
