In the lore, that giant ball at the undead asylum is actually a giant crack rock. No body truly knows how to unlock this crack rock. Some say big stepper logan was the only person who could unlock the essence of this callosal rock. He was on the verge of a breakthrough before he transfered to sens fortress.
For me the first Dark Souls game laid a good foundation, but I ultimately enjoy DS 3, BB and ER more than it. Scholar of the First Sin I definitely like less than DS 1 but I'm conflicted between DS 1 and base 2 because 1 has high highs but also lower lows. But I think overall I still like 1 more than 2. DS1 for me is kind of like how I feel about Ocarina of Time. A solid game that I respect for what it contributed to gaming but I ultimately enjoy games that came after it more.

Okay yeah the second half sucks, I think the best way to fix it is to somehow connect everything together but the moment they added quick travel is how it all fell apart, level design became lazier and lazier.
At least we got DS2. It improved so much of the gameplay and the story more grounded to the human level and not god level.

I recently beat DS1 47 times, using different builds and playstyles while afk skilling in OSRS. And I gotta say, no other games can compare. And this is after returning the game when I was 19 (I'm 32 now) so that bit is absolutely correct lmao.
Also on Souls elitism, Miyazaki himself has said in interviews that he uses everything at his disposal to play the games because he sucks at them. Play whatever you want, elitist bastards be damned
