Marvel Rivals Review - The Final Verdict

It’s almost difficult to believe that Blizzard’s Overwatch series has survived this long, even spawning a “sequel.” However, between all the annoying changes, both balance and otherwise, there’s been a clamor for something more, and wouldn’t you believe that a game with actual superheroes would deliver it?

Marvel Rivals is a hero shooter in much the same vein, with 33 heroes across three roles. Almost every big name is here, from Wolverine and Captain America to Magneto and Venom, spectacularly designed and playing exceptionally well. Though the number of maps and modes isn’t all that high, the action remains dynamic throughout, especially with all the potential compositions and the Team-Up Attacks.

There are other nitpicks, like the lack of “free” cosmetics and the lack of a role queue, but overall, Marvel Rivals is a fantastic title that competes with – and even surpasses – Overwatch 2 in numerous ways.

  1. Crazy every 3 months we get a new character and new map and that starting early with next month is crazy and hour before the game launched they possibly teased the new hero with a fantastic four member they have no expired battle pass they give free skins in events and one possibly starting soon they cooking and its not been out long at all

  2. Spidey Main here!!! GIVE SPIDEY SENSE THE CORRECT USAGE (Dodging bullets, etc) and make it a timed usage basis skill or something… Spidey nerfed too much that it is not spider-man anymore… Two things for Spidey would be nice (again I am talking about Spidey since I am a Spidey Main), 1) Dodging ability to Spidey and maybe venom too with restrictions like usage and cooldowns and 2) Reduce cooldowns of Swings and make swings 5 instead of 3. This is my personal opinion… :')

  3. Y'all could work a little harder on the video editing, to make the content on screen match what the reviewer is talking about. When you start discussing a specific character, why not cut to footage of that character, instead an entirely different one?

  4. Role cue for competitive, and I only think you need to lock three roles. The other three can be free flowing. I've played matches with 3 duelists, 1 vanguard and 2 strategists and it worked out great.

  5. Let’s be honest if this wasn’t a marble IP it would be just a generic overwatch clone. And I’m surprised so many of you seemingly support such a blatant rip off an existing game. Not getting or supporting this game. Marvel deserves much better anyway

  6. The devs have already said they will never add role-queue, so this game is pretty much dead in the water unfortunately.

  7. I don't think you guys explained how the battle pass worked correctly. The battle pass itself is fair. You don't actually have to buy anything to unlock the later pages, but you do have to earn a certain amount of the battle pass currency before you can get to the last two pages. So if you don't want anything but the currency you can only buy the currency on each page. But you'll have a lot of battle pass tokens left over to buy the cosmetics. Anyway. The pages are unlocked based off of how much currency you've earned. Not how much you've spent. The issue with the battle pass though is that you can't progress without the missions and there's only so few missions and it's so easy to get through them. It feels like there's no progression.

  8. I agree re role lock. I think there could be a more flexible version than pure 222, but when you see everyone else on your team picking dps it’s a sinking feeling that you are about to almost inevitably lose.
