Lydia is assigned as players’ Housecarl (bodyguard) and first ‘Follower’ (NPC assistant), in The Elder Scrolls V. Followers can subsequently be changed at will. Marriage and parenthood is discretionary, but has it’s gaming advantages. Divorce is not available: Til death do we part.
