Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Bad/Good Endings [Japanese Voice][English Sub]

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana bad and good/normal endings using Japanese voices and English text. Footage starts when going back to the northern region of the island since the beginning is the same for all endings. The bad ending happens when you complete the game doing very minimal things. I think this ending is guaranteed if you do not find all castaways although I cannot confirm this. The normal ending occurs when you find all the castaways and have lower than 201 reputation. The true ending will not be posted unless someone requests it as there are tons of videos on this already.

Intro – 0:00
Bad Ending – 0:10
Normal Ending – 3:25

The difference between the bad/good/true endings are as follows:

– In the bad ending, you do not speak to Maia and when leaving the island, Laxia feels as if though she is forgetting something.

– In the normal ending, you talk to Maia, however when you ask her about Dana, Maia explains that she no longer exists and is only a concept. The cast regrets they are unable to thank Dana.

– In the true ending, the player speaks to Maia and searches for Dana and finding her. Adol thanks Dana and everyone leaves the island. The game goes on to describe what happens to each character after they leave the island.

  1. Thanks for posting this. I only got the true ending and was wondering what happened in the other two endings. The bad ending is a real downer, although in some ways the normal one is worse.

  2. Primordials do not exist in that reconstructed world, right? But, during the scene where the game is narrating the future of Laxia, it says that Laxia is now the leading researcher in Primordials. Can someone please give me an explanation. Thanks

  3. I got the normal ending. I went back and am almost finished all the side quests and have done about everything so I can get the best ending

  4. Even the bad ending gives me one info that can't be found in other. Apparently the reminds of Eternia are still there, but not the great tree and maiden. Thank you, this answer one question I have been wondering for a while.

  5. just beat the game went straight to true ending, bad ending seems less painful compared to normal ending

  6. hm..
how to get bad and normal ending? I got true ending
I'm first time play ys series from celceta – seven (just first gameplay until gladiator) – lacrimosa

  7. damn this game, i cried like a baby i thought i did everything right and still dana died. and i came here to see what would the true ending would be like and it's the same ending that i got….

  8. I somehow missed one quest from austin which is to go back to the past and find the music sheet and i am already on the next chapter. So i looked at the walkthrough and tried that but nothing worked. So i am like forget it… i thought i was going to get a normal ending. But my rep. Was higher then i expected. I got 262 rep at 52 hours.

  9. I have just finished the game too, thank you for showing these endings
    [Spoilers]
The bad one isn't so bad to be honest, I expected they would die in the sea in that ending or the lacrymosa happened)

The normal ending is clearly the worst one and the "true bad ending" of the game

The "true" one isn't very happy too but at least Dana is back to say them goodbye
It would have been good to have a Lakhsha x Adol or a Dana x Adol but impossible since Adol is always the main character of Y's stories and he thinks only about adventures…

Great story but I didn't really liked how it ends…

  10. Beat this today and got true ending. Thanks for posting the other endings, I was never going to get them. This game is the darkest most colourful one ever

  11. Didn't know there are multiple endings in this game. Thankfully, I got the true ending on my first playthrough. Still sad that they need to part ways with Dana in the end.
