Hironobu Sakaguchi and Naoki Yoshida were recently interviewed on what games they would like to work on together after Fantasian. Final Fantasy Tactics & Vagrant Story are two games that they have shown interest in for the future.

Do we think these games will have a re-release in the near future? How does everyone feel about spinoff games being more common for Final Fantasy as a whole?

Definitely think they should return, I mean FF Tactics Remaster is guaranteed to come, and we’re just waiting to see it, if it’s to be believed that CS3 are working on it, just like Fantasian Neo Dimension. Which kinda gives me the impression, that they are going all out with it even more so than say Tactics Ogre Reborn.
And I do think we’re overdue for the good ol meaniful FF spin-offs again. As the recent ones outside of say Crisis Core Reunion (tho that was a remaster of an existing spin-off) didn’t exactly push the needle in a meaningful way, even if I am a Stranger of Paradise enjoyer.
Opposed to The First Solider and Chocobo GP, which well you know how well those went.
Why not give vagrant story the remake like demon souls? Just use the ff16 engine.
I kinda wish they would remake cult classics that were “unfinished” or endured development hell instead. Xenogears mainly.
I never did play much of these 2 titles so I would love them to come to modern systems.
Tactics needs a remaster so bad
Spin Offs are also important to get new developers into the franchise before they take hands on mainlines. I'm most interested in a Dissidia remaster. Always wanted to play it but never got the chance. I also hope for a Dirge Remaster. Might need some overwork like Crisis Core but I love this game. I also think they should do some of their minigames to spin off titles. Like Pokemon did with Trading Card Game for gameboy. Or a modernized blitzball game with FF characters. Also kinda sad that they messed up Chocobo GP so much. I was very hyped for it.
Give me that sweet 2.5D FFT remake.
Vagrant Story or something like it should definitely be remade. That horrible camera and save system sucked way back then.

Vagrant Story could only have a remake if Yasumi Matsuno himself and the rest of the original team were on the project. There is no way this game would ever exist today in the hands of any other team.
if they do let's hope they leave it as is, they can up the graphics but they can't change what made it special. look at the censorship they're doing to dragon quest 3 remaster for an example.
