    I think with Figure and Seek it doesn't work because unlike the others, they have a mass, Figure has entirely a fleshy body that links them to a mortal world.
    With Seek you can see he's struggling a bit, the dimension he would've been brought too might have mistaken him since he's made of a weird goon matter more than a solid one, maybe it would've actually worked and disassembled him all but he was too determinated so he used all his streinght to break free.
    With it Scratch probably worked the same way it did for Seek expect that Scratch didn't even try to break free.
    About Dupe, we don't know whatever happened to him.

    Conclusion:
    I think this tells us about how much linked to our world the entities are, Figure surely comes from the hotel's world, with Seek I don't know but it looks like the crucifix wasn't made for him at all.

    Entities which the crucifix is 100% made for are Ambush, Rush and Eyes.

    The reason for why it doesn't work on A is because the crucifix uses a force that is seen already around the hotel, it's that blue light, well… you are not in the hotel when facing A, so it can't defend you
