The original looks better in most of the shots, in my opinion. Also, PC mods can change the game's look, and I recommend the Natural Clover shader mod. I just picked up the original today for $10 on CDKeys for Steam before it is delisted when the remaster is released, and I'm happy I did. I'll probably never purchase the remaster, even for the $10 upgrade, and will play it on PSN for the Platinum Trophy when it's free.
Man I hope a lot of the lighting is just time of day. It felt really washed out. The color grading seems much more dynamic in the original. The updated character models are nice but I’m a little disappointed with some of it.
Thanks for the breakdown. Personally I've decided not to get the remaster because they shrank her arms like in FW. As a muscular lady, that drives me up the wall.
This has to be the most pointless remaster ever created. And pushing PSN on PC players, limiting who can actually have an option to upgrade, is downright disgusting.
I loved the original, but thought the character faces all looked a bit plastic. Looks like they fixed that in the remaster. I would have been far more excited if it had been a remaster of ICO or Jak & Daxter, etc.
i was taken back that they're releasing a remastered. honestly? i still prefer the original's graphic. sure it is less defined, less saturated? it is definitely a vibe. when i imagine a lost civilization of our modern that nature overtook that had elements of struggle with automation tech beast and lost age? original fits more than this cleared up, more fluffed nature and brighten side of it. ngl i am glad i already have the original. thanks but i'm sticking to my preferred ambient. also the retouching of aloy and rost is insane. the original gives that aesthetic of realism, more aged fine lines and more details, the remastered redid it by smoothing it and changed rost's hair colour?? hahaha original FTW honestly.
the only points i would give the remastered is the upclose of machines being sharper and clearer. that is probably my only praise. but the others aren't. like did grown aloy in remastered had makeup?? eyebrow penciled, mascara and lip gloss? her skin is glowy and dewy in a place of struggle lol. and less freckles too. are we expecting them to drop Aloy's skincare product next? 😅
Minor changes : higher saturation with slightly different texture mapping and some additional tree leaves is a remaster. The remaster no one waited, Sony could to this remaster 10 years later.
