Final Fantasy Tactics (1997) (PSX) – Chapter 2 – At the Gate of Lionel Castle story battle
This is the 2nd to last battle of Chapter 2 and as you might expect it can turn into a long grind. Once again the party splits into two groups, with the first being only Ramza by himself. Make Ramza a Knight and give him the Item ability, Two Swords, and the Gold Armor that Agrias was wearing when she joined. For the 2nd group the safest lineup I found was 2x Chemists, 1 Knight, and 1 Monk.
When the battle starts move Ramza towards Gaffgarion while using Hi-Potions to stay healed. Get behind him for every attack and with Two Swords you will outlast him, even if some of your attacks miss. If you finish in time Ramza can open the gate and join the battle outside.
With the 2nd group, instantly use the Chemists to attack the Summoner and get him off the field as fast as possible. He likes to run and hide behind other enemies while casting, so the Chemists should try to find angles and shoot him. The AI prioritizes protecting the Summoner over everyone else.
Have your Knight attack the enemies in the center and don’t worry about gear being broken. It’s much better here to have gear broken and take 0 dmg on that turn than lose HP.
