  1. It has to be the chronologically last game… I mean, sure there are like… 5 things overall pointing the other way, but the whole world of ds3 seems close to ds1, tons of npcs from ds1 are still alive, the locations are similar, the overal feel of events is similar to ds1… I mean, there is no way DS2 happens as a prequel to ds3, unless it is dropped from canon or said to happen in a paralel dimension or something.

  2. Wait…. Giants not appearing in 1? What about slave giants? Am I missing something?

  3. I had thought that Nashandra couldn’t take the kinship from us until we become hollow. Which is why everyone despises undead, because if their will is strong enough they can keep coming back for you until they win. You can’t just beat them, you have to break them utterly. So most settled for shipping them away or locking them up.

  4. Nasahandra was what was stolen. She was once the Queen of the Giants who left her kingdom and husband when she, or the piece of Manus within her, senses a stronger King who came to power.

  5. But please someone explain why does the old emerald herald send us back to link the flame? If the cycle is just gonna happen again. Or is she gonna keep sending undead to the past again and again even after bearer of the curse takes the throne?

  6. Oof, dark souls 3 just makes you FEEL like you can break a cycle only to wake up again after you let the fire fade, and so it literally doesn't matter what you do, the best you can do is create a painting for beings to fleet to when the dark comes and who knows when someone will go and ruin that too… I kinda went hallow irl because I just sat next to the bonfire after killing everything for the 3rd time… and the npcs taunting you, and your like "trust me buddy, this character is basically a great one from bloodborne because he exists outside of this realm lol" I didn't beat a series of bosses in my 3rd run, I was the boss fight… and I was defeated no matter what I did… I did it all man.. I really really did…

  7. I like the idea that the whole of Dark Souls 2 is in a weird afterlife/purgatory. You sought the cure for undeath – and died at the beginning. The place betwixt is literally the place in between life and death and everyone you meet has, in their own way, given up on the journey to whatever comes next. That would explain why Ornstein is there – he is dead but has yet to pass over. It would also explain the lack of conformity when passing between areas; each area bubble is created from the will of those trapped there – I like the idea that the village on the cliff is peaceful because your character remembers it like that in some way; it might look completely different to one of the other characters. The Lord Souls too have passed over in some form or they might be a memory of someone else who is present.

Or maybe not – I like this theory because it allows me to keep this game separated from the other two!

  8. 3:20 I've played through DS2 several times now but when I see this cutscene, I suddenly think how much the crone on the right looks like the Shrine Handmaiden in DS3. The other women look different so it's not just copy pasting. The resemblance is uncanny

  9. 13:50 I always appreciated that it is the Throne of Want, not a Throne of Need. A rule of desire, not a rule of necessitated order.

  10. I think you're affording too much autonomy to Nashandra. She is exactly like Manus, compulsive, frantic, depraved. The only thing she wants from the Throne of Want are the sheer amount of souls contained by the Kiln, as she shows the worst side of the undead. That which lusts for power for the sake of power. She can be heard chanting "souls, so many souls!". I know this is 8 years late, sorry Vaati LOL. Nashandra to me feels like a mindless parasite inheriting the paranoid will of Manus without even understanding themselves why they need it.

  11. Does Giant Lord use Storm Ruler? Reason I ask is because it's using what looks like is white air. And I've heard the connection that Yhorm is a descendant to Giant Lord. So potentially, someone picked the sword up (potentially it was Seigward of Catarina), and then he gave it to Yhorm as a gift from his father. We don't see the sword in Ds2 after that battle and it remains lost. But then how did he get that from Demon's Souls?

  12. I think the hole in the beginning cutscene you fall into is not a portal but something representing a hollows slow descent into madness.

  13. My guess why Ornstein is there, is that he started wandering after he lost to the chosen undead (and didn't die in the battle somehow). And is just like you in search of a cure for the curse. I mean, it makes sense thinking of him as another undead who just comes back like you do, if we consider how he ends in Dark Souls 1 the one way or another.

  14. I've recently finished DS2 after playing ER, DS1, and DS3. I wanted to watch some videos on the lore but can I just say WOWW your channel has come so far!! Seeing your style and editing in the most recent ER videos compared to 8 years ago is just insane. What amazing progress you've made. Adore your channel <3

  15. Land of Giants is the continent Lordran. Giants were everywhere in Lordran as slaves and probably rose up when the gods fell. Giants seemed to gain a lot of power by flexing their strength and conquered areas. Yhorm was a descendent of one such conqueror and advised by that Catarina dude which also proves its all taking place in Lordran. Drangleic is on another continent and Nashandra wanted to attack Anor Londo cuz she is dark. Eventually imo Drangleic becomes Londor, a kingdom of dark and hollows.
