I don't care what anyone says, Balthier and Fran are the MAIN characters of this game and are two of my favorite characters in the entire FF franchise. Balthier is definitely the Leading Man.
From 07-11 I played this constantly, so many fond memories of it.
This game is too long for me to get through, but I think the ending is fantastic especially the way they integrated the vocal track.

just beat the game today. and i could say this is my second favorite final fantasy.
Gabranth will last forever.
His spirit is immortal.
He is the warrior-king with a terrible sword and a silver tongue.
Principled, flawed, and complex until the end.

Basch sacrificing his identity and accepting that he will always be viewed as a traitor, so he can serve as a guard to Ashe hits way harder than Aeriths death to me, and certainly way harder than all the other cheap gutpunches Squenix tried to squeeze into their games for some quick sads.
Vaan is my favorite MC in all final fantasy, he's just a normal guy that got thrown into an insane group of people and ended up helping save the whole world. He's not destined, he's not all powerful, he's just doing his best.
this boss fight was tough. it was 3 boss fight in one
I feel like Ashelia was the leader of this game. But like FFVI not really a leader chosen.
This is one of the most bittersweet endings in the franchise. Everyone goes back to their old lives and classes but they’ve changed so much as people.
The voice acting alone is out of this world.

yesterday i've finished my final fantasy 12, 25 aug 2023 .. and this marked the 6th final fantasy games i've beaten. first is 9 then 8, 7, then 6 and then 10 and yesterday 12. all ff games are awesome on their own way.. and the music kiss me good bye by nobuo uematsu hit me the most
when vaan stabbed vayne after second form battle.. i suddenly said, "good job vaan" lol

Good game, good ending, sucks that a sequel was made on a separate console which was the nintendo ds,
I wish xenoblade remake did the eyes like this game. The eyes were baked into the head in a particular way that was beautiful to look at in both FFXII and Xeno chronicles.
This game remade the eyes perfectly but xeno just went full anime eyes…while not bad its just I wish they remain true to the original a bit more as far as eyes.

I love the poetry of Basch using Gabranth's name to stop the attack. The game started with Gabranth using Basch's name to murder King Raminas, kill Recks and bring Dalmasca under complete imperial rule, it ends with the complete opposite to save lives and free Dalmasca from imperial rule.

I think that scene with Basch and the prince is the prince thinking about Basch going back to Ashe.
That he keeps the helmet off to likely speak with him. (I admit I liked Basch and Ashe) lol
The dark times began with Gabranth wearing Basch's face. And so they end with Basch wearing Gabranth's face.

FF12 did have the best storyline until Remake & Rebirth came, but I still loved the whole FF12 storyline since it was of war and didn’t focus on romance entirely like other FF games. FF12 was the start of the change of FF battle system.
I appreciate how Vayne isn't just an obnoxious bad guy but rather he has his faith and did his good for the sake of it.
Last great FF. It's history now.
The Japanese voice acting is so much better
After a few years I replayed this game to see why I didnt like it back when I was young. I think I understand now why: the devs chose the wrong MC to put you in charge of. They should have made you play as Balthier right from the start. Vaan is just…..well, Vaan.
