Unlike the first game where it covers themes of guilt, sorrow, and moving on, Deemo II’s focus is on love and compassion despite forgetting them. I have to admit the story felt a little bit rushed but it was done pretty well. Here’s my interpretation of the story.
May and Kai are an old couple who love each other. May sadly is diagnosed with Alzheimers and she can’t remember to play piano or her family. But it is through that love she is able to remember her husband and children.
This is all done through the Deemo world. Echo and Deemo is simply put, the reflections of the old couple. Every human character represent the memories of when they first met, engaged, and have kids. By awakening the guardians to fight the loomers, the rain stops the downpour. These guardians are small drawings her children, May, and Kai drew together in the credits. The guardians are her cherished memories that remind her to not forget the love her family has for May. Thus, the composer appears again. The composer represents May’s best self—playing piano— but due to her Alzheimers, it’s hard for her to perform until Echo reminds her about the love she carries, even if she forgets. We first seen the outlanders as “bad” but they are her children guiding her to return Echo/May back to Horizon (May’s world).
I might be missing some context but I love that the story ended on a positive note. It’s a story of remembering the love of your family.
The saddest thing is that this game has been forgotten by people. It makes me sadder because it seems like the theme of this game, like someone's fading memories.
However, even if decades pass, I think it will be a story that will forever remain in my heart and the hearts of those who have played this game.
It may be too late, but I hope that the story of this game becomes known to people in some way.
I loved Deemo 1 and 2 and I’m sad to see deemo 2 end, the ending was really emotional and I loved it😭 Thank you Rayark inc for making these absolute gems of a game, I would love to see a 3rd game in the same art style as the 2nd. They’re just such amazing games and I would be sad to see it end on the 2nd game. But still, thank you so much Rayark 🙂
Im so sad that Deemo 2 isnt successful unlike its predecessor. The story is so beautiful and quality is so high. Rayark failed on advertising Deemo 2. I know this game because I follow Deemo religiously. I hope one day it will receive recognition like Deemo 1 and Cytus series

鹿の守護霊目覚めさせた後から展開が怒涛すぎてポカーンとしてたけど 2:30がコンセプトムービーで見たところだ！ってなったり、最後の電車に乗るところでそういうことか！！ってなってストーリーをずっと噛み締めてる
