  1. Still can't understand why they choose this kind of approach to change the game

  2. All these new additions are fine and dandy but backward compatibility is extremely confusing to understand … I am getting kind of intimidated by my brand new Ariandel core set now 😅

  3. I missed that core set. It is a massive regret. I don't like the new boxes and it's kept me away from the game.
The core box Bosses are far more interesting. I hope they re-release the old core box with the updates

  4. Thank you for the rundown on this! Not sure how I feel about all of these gameplay changes, though.

  5. I’m super confused, do we still not have updated rules for the other expansions then? Darkroot, invaders, chariot etc. And why is the large hollow not included in this. Weird, and confusing.

  6. is it worth getting the new core sets and a few of the older expansions or should i order elden ring all in, do the other expansions work with new core sets?

  7. Hey! Thanks for the video. I do not like new approach to the encounters, so I would like to incorporate new rules into the old core box. The question is, wouldn’t it break the game? The question is about “recover 3 stamina at the beginning of the turn” – sounds that it could make the game much easier. And “other players may move one node at the start of your activation”, although, sounds great, I afraid that it could break bosses like Manus, where you have an option to move 1 node away for the stamina.

  8. I’d be curious to know which treasure cards they will be using for this new set as the previous new core sets had about 13 new treasure cards that I believe weren’t in any previous expansions. Perhaps it’s from explorers and characters as some encounters reference treasure from those expansions? I’m assuming sfg will be releasing this as a boxed set like the others? Ive enjoyed both versions of this game as I consider them designed to be separate adventures and trying to adapt updated rules/content from one version to the other and vice versa imo greatly can affect the balance. Great to see an update on this. Thanks.

  9. A word of warning about Mimic ambush card.

In Explorers Expansion, 2/5 cards have the Mimic, and 3/5 have the treasure. In Sunless CIty (as you can see on the print sheet) you have 1/5 Mimic and 4/5 treasure. So it's 40% vs 20% chance to fight the mimic when opening chests, depending on if you use the Explorers deck or the printed one. Be careful. 🙂

  10. I just found out about this. steamforged did an official email announcement of a new retail core set. Its cool that they make the new encounter cards available to download but i wish i could buy officially printed ones with the same finish as the original core set.
once again only 3 characters? why not 4 like the original core set? The new set seems primarily designed around cutting costs. i would suggest anyone interested to wait for a clearance. this thing will be half off within 6 months.
i really wish i could buy an officially printed upgrade pack. and instead of a remade original core set, how about an entirely new core set with Quelaag or something we haven't seen. they had an opportunity with a new core set to bring us new bosses and new enemy types. how about a Iudex Gundir mini boss? Watchdogs of Farron boss? Crystal Mage? there are so many unused bosses just from DS3 alone.

  11. SFG seriously needs to make backwards compatible encounter cards pack for the V1 version of rules/core set. As someone who doesn't like the changes/system all I want is to use is the new enemies with the old system

  12. Will you be doing any unboxing content with the Sunless City core set? I’d be interested to see all of the treasure cards. I’ve noticed some of the listed treasure cards on the encounters are from past expansion sets such as explorers, phantoms, etc and not just only the original core set. Great channel. Thanks.

  13. why don't they just sell the cards in an expansion pack for like $20? I don't want to print out and do arts and crafts just bc they didn't make the game right the first time.
