Hordes are giant groups of Swarmers. You can generally find them during the day resting in caves or other dark locations. At night they will move around as a group to their feeding grounds. Early in the game it is best to avoid hordes. Only after you have leveled up and acquired good weapons and plenty of throwables is it recommended that you attempt to take on hordes.
