Wooowww !!! que emocionante final. Garireo tiene un control increíble de la presión. Tuvo que realizar el reset, sacarse un match point championship…uffff. Jugador completísimo. Muy buena defensa y ataque en su juego.
was there not an Evo grand final with Azrael winning against a Litchi player?? AM I TRIPPING?? I remember it plain as day and cannot find the VOD and it was sooo fuckin hype
22:50 You can tell he was hungry for an astral finish and was playing with his food when he had the lead. When the set is over you can see how devastated he is for throwing that away.
I had to come back to this after so long It's helped get me into fighting games and today it has helped reaffirm me in a moment of weakness A lot has changed in my life over the years, but I hope my love for the community and moments like these never fades away
I get the impression a lot of people haven't seen the entire Top 8. When the final match between these two started Garireo had been playing for over an hour and had not left the stage at any point. He had a long set with Dogura and lost. Then he had a long set against Dora that he nearly lost. He won that game by the skin of his teeth and then went directly into this match against a player that had soundly beaten him just a half hour before.
That's why you see Dogura playing with his food so much here. He was fishing for an astral to end the tournament on. He was well known for doing this in the past. If he didn't have this bad habit he would have probably won this tournament. Not to take anything away from Garireo but a lot of this match came down to Dogura not respecting the other player in key moments. He was too focused on winning Evo with an astral. He wanted his win at Evo to be hype. In his mind he'd already won and this set was just a formality.
If you don't believe me just observe what he does on game points. He's not playing like someone looking to put a game away with any hit. He's busy making sure his gagues are filled and he's set-up to do the astral. He passes up on a lot of chances to do easy damage because he's worried he'll kill Garireo before he can do the astral.
Garireo's play is really impressive throughout this marathon in Top 8. He constantly adapts and does things that shouldn't work but do. He eats damage and loses a lot of rounds trying different things. He finds ways to lay hits on the opponent where others had failed all day. He doesn't get fatigued or bothered by the crowd. This allows him to win match ups he really shouldn't. Frankly, he went against two monsters and no one expected him to beat either of them. Everyone expected a Dogura vs Dora grand finals.
That's why this top 8 is so great. A guy that wasn't supposed to win playing with a character that wasn't supposed to make top 8 manages to run through the strongest this game has to offer. It's a shame they don't have it at Evo anymore and it was replaced by a tag team game that doesn't play anything like this one.
We've had titans clash, We've seen evo moment 37. But this, this set right here, This is the true heart of fighting games burning at it's goddamn brightest. Thank you for never giving up Galileo, you fucking earned this.
The algorithm has blessed us with a gem. If you know someone who doesn't understand why fighting games are so hype, show them this match. It'll make them a believer.
27:59 If you look closely, Garireo actually drops the combo so the reset into super deals maximum damage, instead of doing minimum which likely wouldn't have killed. Had Dogura barrier blocked or Garireo simply the entire combo, this match could've had a very different conclusion…

Blazblue 2014>KOF 2012 #onemoreyear
Might anyone have a link to a possible recording of Toshimichi congratulating Garireo?
Where else can you hear this kind of commentary –
27:30 – "Will this kill I don't think so?"
27:35 – "Is it possible? Is this enough to kill?"
27:37 – Scream "ITS GONNA KILL! ITS GONNA KILL!"
Lol love it, I know nothing about this game but I really enjoyed the finals and the over the top commentary. Grats to the winner!
Not sure why I even try against Azrael with Izayoi anymore. :/
This was one of the most beautiful comebacks I've ever seen!
Happy A litchi player one! He's sooo good with her. She's my main too. Amazing finals loved the fight and loved the comeback even more.
Can anyone tell me why Hakumen was so under represented at Evo? I don't think I saw a single one. He wasn't nerfed that badly was he?
Real life shonen stories
This tournament should be an anime movie or something like that

5years later, morale of the story:
Don't troll because your on match point by trying to astral at neutral.
Watching this in 2019 like maaaaaaaaaaaaaan I miss Dogura.

I keep coming back to this. Bar none the greatest and most slept on grand final in all of Evo.

5:24 LOOK AT DOGURA'S HAND, Tournament nerves happen to everyone, even the greats!
This match is the reason why I play fighting games.

I always come back to this video every year. Garireo and Dogura, I wonder how are they doing right now.
Both players give us the best finals in a fighting game ever!!
The G.O.A.T
Cuando viene la muerte, hay a una persona que no le tiembla ni un pelo, su nombre es Garireo.
Watching this fight is like watching an anime
