Had to rewind… I missed getting to use the noid class. 😂
I've never played the video game, but I really enjoy this game. I play it solo with two heroes.
Chris is spot on – The rulebook is not designed well, but once you get over the hurdle of learning the game, it's a lot of fun and flows nicely.
Too bad it's overpriced, and I think the Ashes expansion adds a lot to the base game (more quests, items, and mini-campaigns) which drives the cost up.
20:09 You said this would be rated as a 4 and would prefer dental work in rough conditions over this game. What would a game have to do to earn a score of 3 or lower? 😂
'The Noid' I mean someone created a mod in Oblivion that would allow them to order a preset pizza from Domino's but I think you meant Nord.
They really have released Skyrim on everything haven't they. Not something that appeals to me.
Okay! Release the Skyrim Lore cut! We need to see the entire discussion!
I used to be a board gamer like you,
But then I took a reroll to the tech tree.
I love love love the combat. The set up and tear down is so fast for how much you can do in this game. The theme and mechanics of the video game are in almost all aspects of the game. Skyrim is my favorite video game, so i was probably going to like this regardless. But i think they did a pretty goodjob at making a solid board game.
Great Review
However highly disagree re the comment of "If you are playing solo then you may as well just play the video game." A lot of people play solo games to get away from screens etc.
It's kind of like saying "You may as well not play board games with people as you could just play a multiplayer video game" 😛
The outro was just the best!! 😂
I'm with Wendy, at first glance I would rather play the video game. Also the video game has a huge amount of mods which allow of infinate replayability including 3 or 4 different skill tree overhauls. New magic systems. Some mods have added new continents to explore. All the math is taken care of for you for smoother game play. But, if someone were to bring this to the table I would definately give it a try.
Never liked the video game and this looks just as bad. Hard pass.
This is a fun game for sure, but the rules are garbage. The rules for how the campaign works and how you reset things and just a ton of other stuff is just not spelled out or spelled out very poorly.
Having said that, it is fun, it feels like Skyrim but I wish this game was streamlined for sure. There's a lot of little fiddly rules that bogged the game down into a three to four hour playtime for one scenario
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Witcher Old World, which seems very similar , but better hopefully 😉
Upgrades you learn are basically just you add a keyword. You might get an extra die, but it turns into just pick a skill for a keyword you think you might run into. I find the artwork is bland and almost non-existent.
