I want you to imagine you’re back in 2004, as a young Spider-Man fan. You were just blessed with Spider-Man 2, which was a banger, and the next year you’d get to play Ultimate Spider-Man, which was also good. Now imagine your disappointment when Spider-Man 3 rolls around and you get this. Needless to say, the Spider-Man reputation took a hit. BUT, it was redeemed. Spider-Man Web of Shadows released the next year and while it had some issues with level design, it still provided a great open world Spider-Man game with swinging that many still consider the best. Then we got the more linear but no less great Shattered DImensions, and then Edge of Time. While many appreciate the games now, at the time the scores were not friendly. Then, with the announcement of the new cinematic reboot titled The Amazing Spider-Man, we also received a movie tie in game. Given the history, colour me sceptical.
Things have changed since the last few Spider-Man games. Most notably, things have changed with Batman. Since the release of Web of Shadows, the last open world Spider-Man game we received, the Arkham Series was already off the ground and we had both Asylum and City to solidify the dark knight’s seat on the throne atop the superhero genre. Spider-Man needed change, and the developers were acutely aware of the last few games disappointing numbers. This game had aims of taking a more realistic approach like the movie, but as you’ll see, that vision is left unfulfilled. What we ended up with was a game that at the time, I loved. One with genuinely incredible animations, fun enough gameplay, and traversal that on one hand is the most shallow and accessible, but on the other, is so unique with an arguably unintended amount of depth, that I can help but love it. It’s a game that holds little back and truly allows the player to experience more consistent large stakes battles.
The Amazing Spider-Man is a 2012 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and sharing the title of the character’s longest-running comic book series of the same title. It is the fourth theatrical Spider-Man film produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Entertainment, a reboot of the series following Sam Raimi’s 2002–2007 Spider-Man trilogy, and the first of the two The Amazing Spider-Man films. The film was directed by Marc Webb and written by James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves from a story by Vanderbilt, and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man alongside Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. In the film, after Parker is bitten by a genetically altered spider, he gains newfound, spider-like powers and ventures out to save the city from the machinations of the Lizard.
The Amazing Spider-Man is an open world video game based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the 2012 film of the same name. It was developed by Beenox and published by Activision. It was released on June 26 in North America and on June 29, 2012 in Europe for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Android, iOS, and Microsoft Windows. A version for the Wii U was released in March 2013 in North America and Europe known as The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition in both regions. A PlayStation Vita version was released in November 2013. A sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, was released in April 2014, itself based on the film.
The (not so) Amazing Spider-Man Game. The Amazing Spider-Man is the latest open world follow up to Spider-Man Web of Shadows. This video will not be The Amazing Spider-Man Review of the film but a The Amazing Spider-Man Game Review. This Spider-Man Game Review or The Amazing Spider-Man Critique or The Amazing Spider-Man Analysis is another part of the That Boy Aqua Spider-Man retrospective. That Boy Aqua will cover the infamous The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game and answer why many felt that The Amazing Spider-Man Bad or why they were some of the Worst Spider-Man Game. The Amazing Spider-Man Years Later is still fun, but the Amazing Spider-Man Game falls below other Spider-Man games.

Ah the ultimate weekend rental kind of game.
24:54 I think you may be misremembering the ending of TASM at the last minute it is heavily implied that Peter and Gwen are going to get back together. And at the start of the 2nd one they're dating again.
Ghost of Tsushima Please😉
The web rush is the best part of this game.
i RARELY ever see any praise towards these games, and this was a welcome sight to see! i think i might replay these two games
Can't wait for the Second Game Review
But the second game is just like the second movie, A failure.
As someone who beat this game several times over as a teen, I must say your comments on the web rush – in my opinion – are fairly inaccurate. To say there is depth to a system in which you: A. Look somewhere and B. Tap a button to go somewhere feels inaccurate to me.
Furthermore, praising the fact that you can influence the animations used by tapping the button near an object that will obviously use one of the like, five or six web rush animations seems really bizarre to me. I know you like animations, but nothing about it is very impressive from my point of view. As you said, animations add a very important flair to game play, raising mediocrity into acceptability, and yet, you praised a system because it's flashing despite, very literally, having the mechanical depth of a swimming pool.
0:24 How does one play Web of Shadows to the at this quality? I spent hours and hours trying to find a way to play Web of Shadows at this fidelity to no luck. I could not find an authentic PS3 rom anywhere. I tried the PC version but it has major compatibility issues. Is the only way to buy a CD console copy and rip the iso file?
At the time it came out, I loved this game. Sure, it's mid compared to some past games and the Imsomniac Games. I'll take it over the sequel, any day.
I always liked how your suit in this can gradually become more ripped as you take damage
You have so many L liberal takes in your videos where you complain about misogyny, other than that great content
I am curious, did you buy bitcoin?I did and now I am starting to regret it
Played this for a month str8 replaying the rooftop fight cause i liked swing around on my 3ds
Are u planning on doing a video on hogwarts legacy
I remember playing this game, I enjoyed some of the good bright spots in this title even some features had nice super hero spider-man animation's I wish peter and miles could pull of in the insomniac games.
I love the flying comic book pages in this game, we need it back for later titles by insomniac chances are they might not do it but hey it's worth a shot.
This intrigues me because I always felt this was the best Spider-Man game (overall) until Insomniac's 2018 game. Been many years though. Perhaps if I replayed it I would not feel that way.
I do remember liking the stealth in this game way more than the 2018 game. I also liked that it took place after the movie, rather than being a retelling.
Also the sequel (TASM 2) sucked for the most part lol. It was somehow worse than the movie. Simultaneously a sequel to the first movie, the first game, a retelling of the movie sequel, and its own thing. Such a mess.
It was good but not the best but 2 was straight up garbage
The Alright Spiderman
FOOL! 11 YEAR OLD ME WILL NOT PUT UP WITH SUCH SLANDER AND BLASPHEMY!
the first spider-man game i ever played was the 3ds version of TASM. i remember always being jealous of other consoles for their ability to free roam 😂
I'm 24, just finished it start from finish the other month
I dunno kinda relaxes me
HuhHHH? whitelight releases a video yesterday and that boy aqua follows up with one today, i'm ever so slightly happier :>
I just platinum this game last week , 11 years later , and platinum the 2nd one too
I remember that I once bought the ASM2 game on the 360 because it was on sale for like 2 dollars. One of the only spiderman games I had played at the time but holy shit I had a blast
I got the amazing Spider-Man 2 game when I was twelve and I loved it, if it wasn’t for the load time I would probably still play it today
Hey aqua can you do a review on devil may cry 5
Lots of amazing games in past. 😊😭
I really wish the web rush would come back
SPIDER-MAN 3 WAS NOT BAD
I also find it hilarious how the voice of Spider-Man is voiced by Scanlan from Vox Machina! Because of that, I’m never gonna look at this game the same way I did ten years ago!
PS: The Wii version felt like a massive scam to me due it not featuring the open world like the other versions would have.
I bought the Vita version of this game a few years back and have fond memories playing it on the snowy days at work.
I especially loved collecting all the comic book pages and even got the platinum trophy!
It triggers me watching how late you activate swing when falling to the geound
Hello. I’m new here and I like your perspective on the game. I remember playing this game a lot on the PS3 when I was in middle school. And I enjoyed it. Good times.
Thanks for this, always wanted to play this game at some point to play them all, but recently started the insomniac game and this one feels a little obsolete in comparison. Would anyone say it’s worth playing for anything other than completionism?
( also slight nerd thing but at the end of tasm it’s implied that Peter and Gwen are getting back together and I’m pretty sure they are at the start of 2 so this game works in terms of that canon in that specific part ( pretty sure the rest isn’t)
Hey I recently got hooked to your channel through your web of shadows video and I love how in depth your videos are, it’s nice to see someone shed some light on the games I played as a kid.
Where did you buy this game from ?
After all these years, I never knew this game had DLC, lol!
I never got any suits other than the infected one after doing 100% of the game and now I feel like I messed something up
I still have nightmares of the Johnny Storm races too… I wake up with my palms in cold sweat!
