Ghost of Tsushima is filled with hidden secrets, but some of them are stranger than others. Perhaps there is something strange about the Tale of Jin after all… let’s fancy a bit of crazy speculation!
At first I thought This theory would have been about how all of with was a dream with the truth being is just being Jin’s dying thoughts but this is an excellent theory nice job and keep up the great work Phasma
Jin never lived. He's a legend on par with Goemon, the legendary Japanese thief. You can't prove whether or not he truly existed, but the story still inspires commoners and warriors alike for generations to come. I wouldn't doubt it if this is what they were going for. There's so many legendary Japanese heroes that we can't prove ever existed.
Thank you for this theory. i found it to be as beautiful as it is tragic. though i am curious on your take regarding the Iki Island DLC while still grasping to this theory hehe
This is also during a time where there isn't quick communications and people believed in the mythical. So of course you'll hear conflicting stories from people, especially when they're in a moment of war and death everywhere.
It is a little known fact that Yuna died on April 19, 1578 of uterine cancer at a fairly ripe age of approximately 340, as documented by Matsudaira Tadaaki's historical account called Todaiki, after having lived the last decades of her life under the pseudonym of Uesugi Kenshin "Kagetora", one of the most legendary warlords of the sengoku jidai — well, she had a lot of experience as a fighter. For more on this, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uesugi_Kenshin (the section on evidence that Uesugi Kenshin was a woman).
Let us also consider the theory that Jin is schizophenic and Ryuzo is his alternative personality. That's why we only see Jin and Ryuzo when they are alone, modulo some imagined mongols in the first scene where we learn about Ryuzo. It is Jin that keeps the hostilities going, that is obvious throughout the game, otherwise there would have been peace after Komoda Beach. The sinister part is that Jin is serving both sides for maximum carnage. But in the end he chooses to be Jinx over Ryuzo and kills his father figure Silco, I mean Khotun Khan.
Thus explains one very large thing, Iki Expansion. As we know, the lore completely changed with this DLC, from the killer of Sakai’s father being executed to him being Tenzo and well alive makes it quite odd.

I like this theory! The entire game being just a story fabricated by Yuna, just like what Gyozen did in Legends but much, much subtler.

Always love hearing the stories of the NPCs. They are just as interesting as the mainstory
This is more of a fan fiction than a theory , but it is entertaining.
Good job!

This theory is super good :p
This is a beautifully written alternate view of Ghost of Tsushima. I would one million percent play that game.
