A major update to Tetris® Effect: Connected arrives on 2/22/2023! As @aGameScout details in this video, the Winter 2023 update includes compatibility for PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 (via a paid upgrade for existing owners of the PS4 version), Tate (vertical) mode for Nintendo Switch, plus Zone Marathon, Single-player Classic Score Attack, Endless Master Mode, and Endless Purify Effect Modes.
All current platforms will also receive this update and have access to these new modes of play.

It's giving us some Primetime Live vibes from the Tetris Mobile app, particularly when it comes to the Purify game with the countdown timer on the left.

This is awesome. Tetris Effect is one of the few games that never leaves my Switch, and gets regular play there. So glad to see the game getting updated with more modes – and also to see these updates pushed out to all systems, not just a few. I'm no Tetris expert – I spend much of my time just chilling in the "Relax" effect modes (low level Tetris is a great distraction from low to mid level chronic pain), so these changes won't impact me that much, but anything that keeps the Tetris community coming back to this game is a plus in my book.
Side note: I'd personally love to see this game get a bit more popular at the CTWC event, as I enjoy watching people much more skilled than me battle it out. I know most of the top players are stuck on using the old gaming hardware (perhaps even for good reason), but competitive classic Tetris really needs a more accessible option for those who don't have access to (or don't want to buy) the old NES setup. It seems like the devs behind this game have worked hard to make Classic mode as close as possible to the older setup, so while it will never be 100% the same, maybe in some ways that's a good thing.
Either way, hyped to see this game getting new content. Hopefully this trend will continue and we'll see even more updates in the future.

I've been calling Tate (Tah-Tay) modes (tay-t) for years. I'm learning as well as loving the new updates. This is easily one of my favourite games of all time. Thank you for the update.

Why is TATE Mode so zoomed-out? The playing area is only taking up like 1/9 of the screen.

PLEASE Let us customize zone battles/score attack with the themes from journey mode. The music, visuals, and sound effects from journey mode are amazing and it’s a shame we can’t experience them in the multiplayer modes.

If zone is being added to Marathon does that in turn means that Zone will be added to the regular score attack multiplayer mode?

Are u able to zoom-in while playing in tate mode?
I am disappointed that Combo or All Clear, though for understandable reasons, do not have endless or alternative modes in update that let you play them more. I guess "git gud" but I have not learned T spin or combo game that these modes help me to get a picture of, but you have to play well to just get to the more advanced spins. Then you waste time both figuring out the advanced spin, and executing it as there is no sonic drop system to do them as fast as "possible", of course within super spin system you cannot be faster, but compared to parts that can be done with hard drops these parts take more time. Alternatively building labrotary or something like that.
Over all this is still good update, zone mechanic not being part of a marathon was missed opportunity and even I know Master and Purify (totally not Sakura) are modes that work with endless better than modes I just want to have endless version of.
I have the ps4 version and now trying to update to play in ps vr 2 but it say that I have to pay 40$ anybody know why ???

The only Tetris game I play more often than this is Tetris 99. Love that game
