You brought some extremely valid points. Hell yes Crystal has a much better pased post game, and I think most people would agree gen 2 has the best post game and it is one of its biggest selling points. If people like HGSS more that's cool, but make sure to actually look at what there is on both sides of the comparison and don't just go with the crowd.
This and Emerald are my favorite Pokemon games.
Nice video.
I miss the dancing Ditto too…
Bruh…. The champion theme was sooooooo much better in crystal. I would play through the elite four JUST to hear it.
Kris was removed because she was heavily associated with Crystal Version, so to preserve Crystal's legacy they created a new female trainer for the modern era and made both Ethen and Lyra the duality of HGSS for whichever gender you chose. Also what i really liked about HGSS is theres a cheatcode that let you play as Dawn/Lucas since their data remains in the game for union rooms/trading/battling. Also one of the great things about HGSS is that you can get the original starters as well as the Hoenn starters and even previous legendaries, tho it does suck that you have to wait post game to get suicune.
EVERYTHING after Gen 2 looks like neopets and fair prizes.
Pokemon Crystal milestones:
🥇 First In GAME day-care/breeding center.
🥇 First game with genders
🥇 First game with baby pokemon to go with already established Pokemon. ( Magmar/Magby. )
🥇 First games without a starter on the Cover.
Who remembers on the OG crystal you could clone Pokemon by turning off ur game IMMEDIATELY when they it says don't save at the CPU. I'm a dinosaur. 😂
This nigga spending 3 minutes simping over some pixels. Lol good video m8
Also the virtual console version of Crystal let you catch celebi
This guy literally said all the good things about heart gold lol
The things he said he hated were actually what made the remakes better then the originals lol
Your a crying baby you don't like a tough challenge pokemon you have to grind to get better you want the game to hold your hand all the way to the end
100% agree, and especially the part about Blaine’s gym. Having a guy that lost everything due to the volcano, but HGSS ruins that by giving him a actual gym
Wow I really lost you when you said like sword and shield, painted the entire video for me. The thirsting over 10-year old girls also made me check out, added to don't recommend channel list.
0:11 Aw, Pichu and Wooper

Yea no, crystal is nostalgic but clearly inferior, all your points literally highlight all the downsides to playing the gen 2 games
A kindred spirit with the whole "You are the chosen one!" part!
I remember feeling really annoyed with the forced capture of the box legendary. One of my favorite aspects of R/B/Y, G/S/C, was that legendary pokemon were things you needed to actively seek out. They might be mentioned, their locations might be hinted at, but it was always up to you and when you felt ready to go look for them.
I have only ever caught Ho-Oh once in probably +20 playthroughs of G/S/C. (I actually vividly remember it, which is nice since it is one of the few memories I have over my grandmothers house, everything else is just 2 second bits and pieces). I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about my first time catching Groudon, or Kyogre. All those times blend together, and each time I wasn't actively trying to go out and find this legendary pokemon. Rayquaza however was like Ho-Oh, only caught it once, and I do remember it, so its not an age thing.
Heartgold and soul silver is way better than crystal they fixed everything and added a lot of content.
I do really like Kris's design as a character and I admittadly find it very strange that her design was just completely removed like that, it's was a very odd choice and I don't know why it was made. I like lyra's design but she's definitely no Kris and it's werid cus no other pokemon remake felt the need to change a female characters design. Lyra/Ethan as characters are also really boring I agree I don't know why they made them characters when they barely have character or do anything, makes me realize how much I appreciate oras for making ethan/ may a lot more fleshed out and memorable. The whole chosen one schtik was unnessessary sure, but I thought it was fine I really like the kimono girls personality and harder fights with them near the end of the game. However I will admit requiring you to catch lugia or ho-oh b4 beating the game was really dumb can't really defend that. It was a early prototype of how pokemon games are nowadays always holding your hand not letting you go anywhere; up until recently with sv and legends (which is why I'm surprised you like swsh so much as that game is so linear and restrictive with what you can do at what moment until you beat it). There's another thing that I'm surprised you didn't bring up, the ability to decorate your room while limited was a nice feature and they just completely removed that. I actually don't mind Blaine having his own gym it adds a lot of hope into the game in never giving up, I will say though it's probably one of the worst design gyms in the entire series. You just beat trainers and you move out of the way to progress it's not exactly very interesting, I agree that erika and bugsy's new gyms are annoying too. Now onto the many other stuff I don't agree with, for one the credits I don't know how you missed this but the hgss credits still have the pokemon dancing it's just reserved the sides of the screen only and it's not exactly always the same as crystal. I don't actually mind guiding the farfetched being a bit harder and there being 2 of them instead of one because honestly once you learn what to do to catch em it's not that bad. I don't agree about the hgss music being somewhat worse in johto at all I think it's far far better then the original gen 2 ost but I will agree that it's the best in kanto for sure and the ds isn't the greatest system for music either. The point about requiring rock climb for mount silver yeah I'll agree that's very stupid, kinda just the dumb hm gen 4itis shit that the gen is known for. However in the original gen 2 you conviently or maybe just honestly forgot that flash was also basically required for mount silver. Yeah you could use a guide to do it without but it's p difficult and most people don't even bother. So really in one game you p much have to use flash, and in another you're required to use rock climb, basically a hm is required for mt silver in both games. The last point about red being more difficult is something I don't really understand, admittedly it's never really fun to grind in any rpg, but in gen 2 he was basically a pushover so long as you had good healing items, in hg ss he's actually a threat making you feel all the better when you beat him. Grinding isn't nearly as bad as it could be either thanks to gym leader and pokemon league rematches. Overall I still prefer hgss, most of the gyms are better designed, there's more legendaries and just the pokemon are far less limited in general (even if there's still some gen 2 pokemon only available in kanto bs), the game is a fair amount harder (they could've made it more difficult though imo), kanto is fully realized due to far less hardware restrictions , the game looks great for the time, following pokemon was a genius mechanic and I for the life of me can't understand why after hgss it went away for p much forever until swsh. Of course you're entitled to your 'wrong' opinion you do you, great video btw 😀
having to be being there alive during the very first Pokémon game red and blue, pokemon gold and silver specially crystal is the best update every pokekmon fan has ever experienced. pokemon 2nd gen added one of the best mechanics that is still the best mechanics today, the shiny version of any pokemon. its one of the best mechanics that is up to this day , gave every pokemon fan the hype and chills no other game has ever does. pokemon crystal is my favorite pokemon game for a reason. I even have a video of how i make every pokemon in shining status using only a gameboy
I think black and white 2 is prob the best pokemon game of all time. But dude. Go play pokemon polished crystal. Holllllyy fuck. Prob the best pokemon experience I've had playing pokemon.
I played Sword as my first Pokémon game, and then around a year later, I played crystal, and it has been not only my favorite Pokémon game, but one of my favorite games of all time.
I can also say that Pokémon Crystal my favorite game. I have it complete in box and have a real shiny suicune I hunted for months. I will say heart gold/soul silver is a faithful remake, it also is its own beast. I have to agree with some of the points he made, but I ain't here for anything other than Crystal. I love both games, hell I'm even trying to complete the Soul Silver pokewalker box.
we get it you jerk it to Kris rule34
As someone who also grew up with Crystal, I can really appreciate this video. Crystal is so underrated but I don't think people that didn't get to experience it when it came out can understand
Bro you forgot about odd egg
Satirically speaking, how much do you simp for Kris?
Lol I thought he said gold nnn digger lol
Man, I wish HG/SS made Trainer Red's Pokemon lvl100…. I needed that challenge!
Lyra is fucking trash compared to Krys but HGSS is objectively much better than Crystal, while i still love crystal from the heart.
I remember being a kid and reading that if you beat the elite 4 ten times then lance will give you his Dragonite lol I tried a few times lol also I read that if you cycle therough saffron city 30 times then Mew would appear 🤣 oh the memories
I respect your wrong opinion
Totodile is the best starter to pick for heart gold so u can have a good fire flying type before the elite 4
One of your points is gamefresk actually added content😐
I like the remakes, but I'll never forgive gamefreak for replacing Kris with that pigtail girl😒I'll always prefer the original female protagonist design over her's
Both games are nice, I can’t choose a favorite
Oh my god, someone else with this opinion.
I thought I was crazy when I felt like HGSS were slower games, but I never considered the increased map size, or gen 4's general issue with the slow health bars, or the story bloat.
Like, I enjoyed playing through it my first time, it was cool, but I couldn't stand replays.
