Clickbait Title: Beyond: Misery P0rn, Beyond: Taking the F’n P1ss.
Beyond: Two Souls is an interactive drama and action-adventure game for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Windows, developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was originally released on 8 October 2013, later being re-released for the PlayStation 4 on 24 November 2015. The game features Jodie Holmes, one of two player characters. The other is an incorporeal entity named Aiden: a separate soul linked to Jodie since birth. Jodie, who is portrayed by actor Elliot Page, possesses supernatural powers through her psychic link to Aiden, growing from adolescence to adulthood while learning to control Aiden and the powers they share. Willem Dafoe co-stars as Nathan Dawkins, a researcher in the Department of Paranormal Activity and Jodie’s surrogate-father-figure. The actors in the game worked during the year-long project in Quantic Dream’s Paris studio to perform on-set voice acting and motion-capture acting.
And it’s one of the worst games I have ever played.

Well Scott, you are marble on youtube. Love this content
David Cage co-directed The room
12:57 I got nostalgic when the silent hill 2 music started to play……knowing that team silent is long gone and we will never get another game made by them.
Damn, that bitch is in the afterlife but still stuck in a wheelchair
David Cage is Uwe Boll of videogames
"Elliot Page" ahh…there it is, my heart practically breathed a sigh of relief. I can only imagine how awful this particular part of his carrier is to look back on, having to work with a creep like David Cage, so it's just. Nice to hear that simple, easily expressed respect for his autonomy and humanity in a review about this awful, awful game. I realize most people who reviewed it at the time did not know, granted, but still.
I really liked beyond Two Souls
Ah shit man, hang on. I was gonna watch this but I'd better go ahead a play through…..the game……first…..HAHAHHAAHA.
That's classic, baby! Classic bit done great! Lol. play the game…..Two Souls?! More like Uwe Boll.
I watch this video daily for "Beyond: Wordy Wordy Wank Wank" and "Fuck-Up: The Line". Those lines always kill me. Good shit.
although what they can do as a production team is incredible I think it would be valid to give some criticisms of their game design especially Beyond: Two Souls seeing as you can't really fail and there are essentially no consequences for your actions
Personally, the topic of suicide has accompanied me for quite some time and while the executions in these games can definitely be clunky, the homeless chapter is my personal favorite. I don’t think her optional suicide attempts are there to glorify death or dying, neither is the option to choose to go into the beyond in the end. I’m glad they put them in there, even if they might make some people uncomfortable because they can serve as amplifiers when it comes to showing her mental state. The downside here is that these things should come from the story itself and not from a missable QTE. Depending on how you as player feel, choosing the beyond in the end might just be the most fitting ending for Jodie. After all, having to choose the alternative might just be considered “glorifying life”, which isn’t self-evidently the better option.
This should’ve been released as a tv show it’s not enjoyable in a video game format . Too many cutscenes and not enough gameplay to bite on
Aaahh!
😆
David Cage doesn't know how America works, and he doesn't know how to write Americans either.
this is possibly my least favorite game ever
The most believable part of this game is when Nathan sent Jody to a teen birthday party with an Edgar Allen Poe anthology as a present. Is it any wonder they all turned on her and tried to locked her in the cupboard under the stairs? 🤦😂
Yeah this game was nothing short of prolonged punishment, and personally a betrayal of trust that Cage had earned from the likes of me in Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain, which both indicated that QD were on the right track. Thank God for Detroit 🤖🦾
I like how Cage says that whenever a play testers fails it’s the developer fault which is completely idiotic. It can be the developers fault if say that the play testers fail because it’s impossible to succeed or if the play testers dies to a glitch and maybe some other thing that I’m forgetting but the rest of the time when a play tester fails it’s because the play testers fault
Auteur more like autist.
I want to kiss any youtuber who puts Deus Ex music in their videos.
This game resonated a lot with me when it first came out. For some reason I related a lot to Jodie and I also enjoyed the bombastic nature of the action setpieces. I played it again a few years after and still got some enjoyment out of it because of nostalgia. I admittedly missed a lot of the problems that you have with it. However, a lot of this can easily be explained by the fact I was 14 and had no idea who David Cage was and so the problematic elements did not come across that way entirely. Death of the author was able to fully work because I didn't have the preconceived notion of what the creator of the narrative was actually like. Kind of like how people were able to enjoy Harry Potter without noticing the problematic elements, but as Rowling revealed more and more of her opinions on things, the problematic elements seemed obvious. I think being too young to know what white saviour stories were or have an awareness of just how taboo SA and Suicide are in all narratives. In the last few years now I'm an adult, I see the problems with the game and also understand just how awful David Cage is. I still like the potential that a character like Jodie could have and a story like this, following a child touched by the supernatural having to live without agency to keep herself and others safe, and I despise the fact that Cage's utter incompetence ruined it.
I watched your Heavy Rain video before this and your alternate idea for that game's plot of Ethan going to prison and then hiring the other two main characters for help sounded excellent and your suggestions for how things could be different here also sounded great. I think it shows that Cage has some interesting ideas, ideas that with refinement could create something compelling and emotional, but the man himself lacks the talent necessary to able to utilise that potential.
I think Beyond Two Souls is a 'game' of interesting, and at times emotional (for me because I'm a useless softie), moments and vignettes, but as a cohesive narrative, nothing really works.
Damn… what a nice video! 10/10
i think the song you used in the intro segment unlocked a hidden core memory 🤮
The methadone wing dings joke👌
"How do you approach writing a teenage girl?"
"I've been trying to figure out death and the afterlife."
Dude cracked me up.
I get that you have a huge hate boner for David but man… ahh… endorsement of suicide , "cancelable", "dangerous", you are such a huge pussy.
SIDEBAR / in chap 3. The re working of 'Forgot About Dre' you used is crazy and I've never heard that before
To say it's beyond bad is an exaggeration, I didn't bother to watch your full video as you didn't start right away with what is bad about it. I don't know anything about it being bad, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The nostalgia critic of games, the humor and the forced laughing was almost as cringe as the game's writing
8:10 the creep that pulled a gun on Maddison and forced her to strip….. Now he's a cop I guess.
10:00 in order is so much better than random events because if she's angry in a chapter, the player doesn't feel her anger let alone side with her anger. But it doesn't mean the game is any better in order, just understandable.
This video really didn’t need to be an hour long…
Elliot is so professional. I would have been out the moment I learned that the writer had ALREADY MADE A NUDE MODEL OF ME.
That game is awesome and I love beyond two souls I’ve been playing it for the past couple of days ❤❤❤❤ it's like watching a movie ❤
Your channel is underrated mate. High quality vids
Great video, what song did you use in the background at 36:15 ? Does anybody know? 👀
I actually stopped playing during the war sequence. It was so mechanically broken and obnoxious i couldn’t finish it.
