This started out as a personal quest to play every game released in English, and then I just decided to record my experience. I never found a way to play Dynasty Warriors Next, but it is Vita exclusive so did anyone really play it?

Some important clarifications about the video. Big thanks to XthemastaX (who also has Warriors content on their channel).
– In Dynasty Warriors PSP, there is an option to toggle overhead enemy health display.
– Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires is the only Dynasty Warriors game with AI on versus mode.
– Dynasty Warriors 6 through Dynasty Warriors 8 XL were played on Playstation Now, and PS Now is mostly to blame for any performance issues or graphical issues you might see.
The amount of time I did put into DW5:XL is insane. I still play it today because Destiny Mode is just too good to be true.
If they put out another Xtreme Legends like that, it would be a big success, I believe. I never heard anyone not say that this is one of their if not THE favorite game of the series.
Dynasty warriors 6 will always have a weird place in my heart. I remember begging my mom to get it and when she did I thought she got me a different game. But no that was it. But the more i played the more it grew on me. But I will say unlocking Lu Bu was a chore. Not to mention unlocking the special horses. I remember having to set my ps3s clock and dates to very specific times and dates and have to play specific battles to unlock the horses. And yeah 6 seems like the title that took the franchise from serious to just anime.
Honestly i love the fact the battles took long, sometimes if felt way to quick in some of the later games and anything past say 5/6 is too easy… need the difficulty from early DWs, also need more battle options, so killing a certain officer actually changes the course of the battle again
I personally love # 3 and will always say it my favorite, i mean i havn't play all the new ones, but the battles seem way too fast and the peons seem to be useless and some of the overpower people like lu bu and guan yu dont seem as challenging, it could be that i played on number 3 first and fell in love with that game, so i am really biased caused i love the entire game then. I also like number 5 as well expessially the empires mode.

Afer playing DW 4 Hyper a lot, i tried DW 6 and deleted after playing less than hour. This game was such garbage optimisation and gameplay wise

2 hrs for each game just isn’t enough for some of the later games. Respect the video and concept tho
yea i need a new dynasty warriors game. 8 was the last i played and i knew to skip 9 when it was going "open world"
DW5, 5XL, 5E were the greatest for me. 8XL is the all around package for everything and probably the last DW game to be considered awesome. 9 is not even controversial. It's just pure garbage.
I hope in 10, they would go back to the individual maps and ditch the open world setting. It's just not great for a Warriors game.
You talk a big game about the movesets being removed in 9 but I feel that it was for the better as some characters do not need completely separate movesets. Plus the combat in 9 was great and a lot better than the older movesets. But it does need enhancements to it which isn't a problem.
Not sure if this was only a problem with the Xbox360 version for DW5:E, but the officers WOULD KEEP ON CHATTING NON-STOP through out the entire battle EVERY TIME.
The shouting would backlog so hard that they would shout about things that happened minutes ago.
I think even one time, it was backlogged so much, that an officer was defeated in battle, respawned, then a speech talking about their defeat was played right after all that.
This was the one game I had to turn off the volume for because the entire fight would devolve into mic spam ON A SINGLE PLAYER GAME, something that I never thought would be possible.
I sold the game soon after because I just couldn't deal with that anymore.
It gives me a good chuckle whenever I'm reminded of it.

Destiny mode from 5XL is the best experience I had in a warriors game. I feel so validated.

Honestly a bit tough that DW6 was considered the worst as it was the first one I started on as a kid. But looking back, it was weird that Xiahou Dun had a mace.
DW8XL is the one I play now and his points are exactly right, it feels like mindless grinding but I did enjoy the extensive cutscenes and voice acting.
I played 6 and 5 on the ps2 as a kid and they were so good the newer games disappointed me as they don’t have the same kind of effort in level design and especially the music I don’t know what they did but the music in 9 is just so generic.
7 is my favorite.

Why does everyone who makes a DW review say Musou wrong?🤦🏻 It's pronounced (mu-zao) not (mu-zow) I literally cringe and wanna stop watching everytime you say it.
What I really hate about DW is the weapon system, and the multitude of fake characters : I don't need an army of clone with the same controls "because they have the same weapons" else everybody could fight like Guan Yu in this era.
I want more fleshed out char in their design and character. And I thank you for having done this video because I now know what bpthers me about DW for year. it's a serial I played since DW2 as well as a lot ok Koei games (Kessen 2 & 3, DTactics 1 & 2, DW2-9, SW 1-4, Orochi 1 & 2, Rotk 7-13, as well as Ateliers) and the more I play Koei games, the more I find this studio not knowing why it's games were good : they all had character and difficulty. Not the "git gud" ala Dark Souls, but a decent amount of difficulty were being experienced mattered. Nowadays? it's just a game number, either you are underleveled or overleveled, but the sweet spot is too slim for the players to be in it for long. And it's felt all accross their licenses.
Last Atelier (Riza 1, didn't bother with 2) was a shame for how easy it was to get maxxed out regent for maxxed bombs.
DWs since 7 have poor combat all feeling the same : you trash pitifuls flies untils you come accross a peeble you need to get out of your shoe (was an officer)
Rotks and Nobunaga Ambitions are grand strategy games with less and less depth (last good one was… 7, not even available in english on steam while it was on release).
And all of this is backed up by the worst predatory cash-grabbing "pay to win your solo games" or even "pay more to get the full version of the game" where you are expected to pay hundreds of € to have access to your characters. Meanwhile the old ones are often better and you feel a difference between spear users (Jiang Wei and Zhao Yun play differently for exemple).
Can someone please recommend online game that got dw vibe in terms of gameplay
Ive played all the dynasty warriors games since dynasty warriors 2 seen the first one its not for me and ive played every Samurai warriors game and Warriors Orochi game , I always loved dynasty warriors 5 and 8 in my opinion was good I still play it from time to time, I do think if they had made it the same way they did 5 I think it would have been better. Numbers 6 and 9 where the biggest disappointments, but if I had to say which one was the worst it would be 9.
hmm did you play all characters to completion or did you just play past games til you got the 6th charge attack?
Disagree with your opinion on DW8 being too easy. Have you played Chaos mode on it? Or Ultimate? It's a reason it's in there making the game way more difficult. Try them if It's too easy.
