Used to be a highlight of my spotify driving playlist. Its just really funny to be driving and then randomly this pops up. Too bad they removed the Dark souls soundtrack from spotify 🙁
This was my first Souls game. I fell in love with the franchise after I finished it (playing Elden Ring currently). When I reached this part, I was super nervous but I felt it would be extremely disrespectful to die in this battle, so I defeated Soul of Cinder on my first try. To this day I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA how I made it, since I'm a pretty average Souls player… but I will always remember this battle, it was one of the best experiences I've had in gaming.
I didn't get to play Dark Souls 1 when it got realeased, but my best friend did. One afternoon he was finishing his playthrough of DS3 and was fighting Soul of Cinder when the plin plin plon of Gwyn's theme came in. And he just, froze. Both in game and irl. He couldn't tell me what happened when I asked him. He was flabbergasted for five minutes. It's just incredible what three simple notes can do to DS players, I wish I understood it myself
I feel like the Dark Souls Trilogy does a strong and unnamable world right. It makes it apparent that it’s screwed, that it will die at some point, and it makes it very well and clear that it sticks to be there. But it still manages to make you upset and cry over it.
My brother passed away, about a year ago and he introduced me to this game franchise and honestly never thought I would like it but once he passed away I knew I had to beat it for him. I can proudly say that I beat the game in his honor.
Honestly, Gym's plin plin plon had me disappointed in DS1. This OST, otherwise, does it in the right way. It starts as an epic sound, an epic battle over the "destiny" of the world. But then, the truth. Nothing is going to change. The cycle will repeat, again and again. That's why I think that epic music + plin plin plon is better than plin plin plon alone.
