    This game was so badass. I’m really hoping for a continuation of the story sometime in the reasonable future. Easily the best DMC game to date imho. I could listen to their dysfunctional family bickering all day long lol

    This was a really fun game that really brought back some history with fun gameplay. It also shows that this brotherly rivalry never seems to end even though they always have each others backs 😂

    Don’t listen to the part of the community that hates on V. They hate nero too, the different demension DMC and dmc2.

    Theres no pleasing them so their not worth paying attention to.

    There’s a manga called Visions of V that gives more detail as to V’s perspective and memories through the events of the game. There’s no official translation but there are easily accessible fan translations. It’s is a fantastic read that expands on the story and V’s feelings.

    As a stranger on the internet, may i recommend a recently-released DMC-like game from a smaller studio? The game goes by name of Soulstice, and it's a pretty respectable game in both length and presentation.

    I can guarantee that it won't top DMC5 for you or many others-, but there is a lot about it to love, respect, criticize- and hopefully in that criticism, give the devs feedback to build upon the foundation they have for other games in the future.

    If you're interested in what it has to offer and are willing to spare the time to read through this, here goes:

    The player character is a Chimera by name of Briar and Lute, a being consisting of a human merged with the disembodied spirit of someone they have a close link with– positively or negatively.

    Briar wields the big sword that can transform into a warhammer, and gains five more weapons over the course of the game, each with individually unlockable moves and effectiveness level-ups against specific enemy types– on top of the effectiveness against an enemy by design.

    For example, the hammer, sword and whip weapon all have wide range, with the whip being the widest with smaller damage, the hammer breaking through armor and barriers better, and the sword being balanced.

    The gauntlet/buckler and punch daggers are better against individual enemies, but the gauntlets are really specifically aimed at a single enemy with focused quick-succession hits, whereas the gauntlet/buckler is yet again a new option for breaking barriers and armor.

    Briar thus does the heavy lifting, but Lute has just as many if not more options at her disposal. She is not controlled directly, but can allow for countering enemies in three different ways when they perform specific attack animations.

    During these animations, counter button pop-ups will appears, the counter button always being the same. So it's like a QTE– but it does not interrupt any attack or walking animations of Briar.

    Lute can outright interrupt and stagger an opponent, send back a projectile, or freeze them in time for a few seconds, depending on the enemy attack animation. But that's not all– she can also with the press of a button (the layout of the controller can be fully customized) cast a blue Evocation or red Banishment field, to make certain environmental objects appear– or make either the Possessed (red-crystaled) or Wraith (blue ethereals) type enemies vulnerable for a short time.

    As a field is kept up, the Entropy meter at the top left of the screen builds up, but by deactivating a field, it shrinks back down.

    It's a mechanic that many aren't too fond of, but there are ways of mitigating this:

    Lute's skill tree offers up skills that make Entropy increase more slowly, or have it reduce on every succesful hit on a Field-affected enemy (regardless of field type).

    Inversely, there's also skills that do stuff like release explosive crystal shards to more immediately hurt enemies in the vicinity, but increase Entropy.

    However, picking a skill in Lute's skill tree *is not permanently locked in*. Whenever you're at a shop, you can always choose to do away with a skill, and have the exact same amount of skill points for her refunded.

    No respec-ing of the entire skill tree– just the individual ones, at one's own comfort!

    Like DMC, there's also a style mechanic that also takes cues from Bayonetta, in that it ranks individual battles. But if during a battle you play well (keep on doing damage, perform counters with Lute when they appear and don't get hit) you build up Unity. Having Unity at the highest level is essentially the S to SSS rank, and from there you can do two things:

    -perform a combo string with any weapon (they can be interwoven) with the last weapon of the string performing a very special high-damaging finisher, unique to each weapon

    -Enter Berserk Mode for a short time and *go ham*. Then press the same buttons to enter Berserk Mode again and perform a Berserk Mode finisher.

    And yet another interesting thing here, is this:

    Depending on your choices of skills in Lute's skill tree (oriented around Balanced, Chaos, Trickster and a fourth one), the Berserk Mode finisher will be one of four different finishers with their own effects. From locking enemies in place for a short time after performing the finisher, to high-damaging single attacks.

    All this kinda stuff is introduced gradually throughout the game, but i'm mentioning it here to hopefully catch the attention of whomsoever may be reading it.

    The story is pretty good too, with strong characterization on the sisters' part. They've got a much healthier relationship with each other compared to Dante and Vergil– but Briar especially still carries a good amount of demons of how she got to the point she is, and how she carried her younger sister along.

    Among the biggest issues are a system involving the casting of the red and blue force field for a short while to make certain enemies vulnerable, the camera being weird sometimes. That, and the middle part of the game not having the full selection of the 7 total weapons and BIG skill tree for Lute open until the end part of the game.

    that and some annoying enemy types and level parts, but DMC and other quality games have also had those

    But there's a lot to it to acknowledge and commend, and i personally believe it deserves a lot more attention.

    This game was short but so worth it and very fun. Playing V was too easy that's why some people saying sh*t like that 😆😅. Don't mind them. Just play the way you want 😁👍

    DMC 5 is definitely the best one so far the only problem I have with it is you need to do some homework to understand something

    Like how is Niko and way is she with Nero and kiria?

    What did v do between being born and him going to Dante for this job?
    What happens in the aftermath of DMC4?

    For anyone who had the same questions there all side stories outside the game you need to understand 😂💙

    Why is it only the centipede enemies you take issue with when a lot of the DMC demons are bug-related? Did you get bitten by one at some point or something? Because you either pause or have a strong reaction whenever you see these centipedes.

    I played the shit out of the originals, but this was trash. Like a YA novel came to life then created a video game. Graphics are nice, but this is a bullshit game.
