Great review but there's a mistake. The original deemo button control isn't as simple as left=blue and right=red. On harder difficulties they get mixed together and you have to use both buttons on each side to play it (like taiko no tatsujin). It's sometimes even more complicated than reborn as you can't directly see what button to press. (e.g. Some left-right 16th note stream are patterns like brbrrrbr (r=red, b=blue) and you have to use both red and blue on the left side) Also it's based on the mobile version so touch screen is probably the intended way to play. Imo the 6 key charts on reborn isn't really well designed tho. It isn't adjusted for the controller key layout. Some charts are literally impossible to play with only the face buttons, you need the r/l buttons which is weird considering they offer both control options
I would recommend trying all difficulties when reviewing rhythm games. A lot of the mechanics aren't on lower difficulties. Rhythm games are mostly designed around the highest difficulty so it's unfair to only play the lower ones. The other parts of this review are pretty detailed so it's still a good review
This might be another big one for me that I didnt hear you say. The loading time is so much faster! I feel like they didnt need to go so in depth in the 3d exploration part but appreciated. To just jump into a quick song you have to load the 3d environment and then walk to the piano to select music.
I honestly prefer the presentation of the original, ironically enough. The 3D presentation, while neat, is far less atmospheric to me by comparison to the old illustrated style. Rayark makes some great games, but they really half-ass the execution sometimes. They somehow manage to make it so that their releases simultaneously feel really exploitative and generous at the same time. Such a weird dev. Fingers crossed we'll eventually get a Switch port of Cytus 2 without the absolutely ludicrous microtransaction bullshit.

Great review! I'm still on the fence about picking this up. I do have to complete the original on mobile first xD
Thank you, I will stick with the original.
Thanks for the detailed reviews! Your battery life breakdowns are uniquely special, as almost no on bothers.
Does reborn have labo piano support? Thanks
Love your work
I’m buying the physical vita version

Thank you so much! Really thoughtful review.
Just to ask: is this game in 30fps or 60fps?
As a rhythm game, this is important for me.
Oh thank god, a review that mentions touch screen handheld mode. I'd been looking for ages! Thanks!
