  1. What a cliffhanger last time. This series has been…. Something. But I enjoyed your commentary.

  2. And now we are finished with the Ultra Despair trip, time for Character breakdowns:
Komaru: Really fun Protag, going from scared highschool girl to the Protector of Towa City, I enjoyed her a lot.
Toko: Amazing Glow up from DR1. Taking one of the wierdest and least developed surviever and giving her a full blown arc and Hero moment. Also in terms of Female Main characters, she stands out by being very…herself.
Monaca: Chaos Goblin and great antagonist, the only time in fiction were you cheer as a underaged girl gets her legs crushed by ruble.
The rest of the warriors of Hope: Mixed bag, Nagisa is good, Kotoko is…mishandled, the other two kinda boring.
Haiji: Terrible person, but I do like the energy that he brings to each scene he is in. The second biggest Hatesink after Monaca.

Overall: Ultra Despair Girls may have wonky combat and questionable Plot-beats, but I do think their is a lot to love in it. Weather the Anime (that I am not the biggest fan of, to be honest) or V3 is coming next, I am very much looking forward to it. See you then.
P.S.: I am supriced that after the Parent reveal, Komaru just ignored the whole Controller thing and just jump Monaca right their.

  3. Komaru actually does get to say “No! That’s wrong!” in an optional dialogue. It’s even voiced.

  4. Ladies and gentlemen it’s almost over. Welcome to the final section of Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls (Featuring Genocide Jack from the Toko May Cry series.) it’s been a funny, depressing, uplifting, and slightly uncomfortable in some parts but *Ultimate*ly enjoyable ride. See you all in the next playthrough.

  5. I friggin love the ending to this game, its such a shame they ruin the whole plot point with Nagito tutoring Monaca in the anime

  6. The stinkbug was actually Toko's motive
Apparently she thought the bug was the only one to ever understand her and they bonded over smelling bad

  7. In every playthrough, nobody ever goes in the circle to avoid the electricity, and it always annoys me.

  8. 45:40 Considering how Danganronpa 2 turned out, the lesson here is 'Be careful what you wish for' bitch.

  9. I think when Komaru says "Remnants of Hope" at the end, she's referring to Makoto and the other Hope's Peak survivors. That's my idea, anyway; it could very well be a typo. Thank you again for playing through this game!

  10. I believe when big bang monokuma cover the eye & flash his weapon, you switch to toko, she can parry it with her scissors

  11. In all honesty, you NEED to watch anime Danganronpa 3 FIRST, before going into Danganronpa V3.
Because Danganronpa 3 anime is the actual END of the series and Danganronpa lore altogether. You just can't skip it, even if it's got its own fare share of problems in the writing.

The thing is, Danganronpa V3 is a, tecnically, official AU (Alternative Universe) that, by the words of the Kodaka himself, doesn't connect to the overall plot of DR1, DR2, UDG and DR3 anime.
But it does contain some mild… spoilers for them, i guess? So it's better if you played V3 the last, after watching anime.

  12. Speaking of Kyoko, Makoto and Byakuya being a trio, as a filthy OT3 shipper, each Mainline Danganronpa Game does have some nice amout of potential OT3-fule.
Not sure if this consolation would work however. Kyoko and Makoto bond is a no brainer, but Byakuya does not really fit in to be honest.

  13. I know it's long, but I love the button question. in the moment, you feel the urge to second-guess yourself, and thematically, when framed as the question of "will you accept responsibility for the childrens' wellbeing, even if they are shitty?", the fact that it's not a one-and-done decision but a constant, mindful choice to care, and Always Make The Same Choice, no matter what….that's powerful

  14. Despite its very obvious flaws, I did enjoy this game as a whole. Komaru and Toko’s dynamic was the best part of it by far. This was such a fun playthrough, and I’m very excited for your v3 playthrough too. It may be “controversial” (not in the way this game is controversial) but it’s a very fun game and I’m excited to hear your thoughts on it for sure

  15. I havent watched the other parts of this series, so this was confusing but it helped me get through the night shift xD

Any chance for return of the Witcher? 😀

  16. Can someone please explain to me why they said it was frustrating the game had a good ending? I didn't get it. Was it bc they considered the game mid or bad?

  17. UDG's climax as soon Komaru holds the controller is an absolute masterpiece. I love everything about this ending.

  18. FTR this epilogue is not happening at the same time as the end of danganronpa 2. This is happening around the same time that Izuru just got the code for digital Junko. There wouldn't be enough time for them to be taken to the island and go through the weeks of the Killing School Trip

  19. I'm sure Gina will make whatever the appropriate choice is or maybe already has but I'd be in team "skip ahead to v3".

  20. Great let´s play. I´m glad you liked the game.

Some interesting facts about the game and in general:

Do you remember that at the end of DR1 in the last scene you see a monokuma gaining sentience and saying that he is hope´s peak headmaster? That was Shirokuma (before he painted itself to be completely white)

Also, In the last trial of DR1 you can see a huge monokuma destroying a building. That was big bang monokuma (at the time they didn´t put the clothing details).

The last boss fight (big bang monokuma) is also a reference to something that Junko said in the last class trial of SDR2 about the SDR2 characters "not getting the chance to have fight againts a giant enemy during the final boss battle". She was doing a reference to this fight (since she was technically Kurokuma and Shirokuma and knows about it).

During the boss fight you get some circles where you can avoid the electricity and when Toko says "Komaru, Leave it to me" you can switch to Genocider and climb to Big bang Monokuma´s head to attack it. It was a nice way to also include her in the fight, but you did pretty well even without that.

And Shirokuma/Kurokuma saying "hey, hey" to Izuru multiple times was a way to mock Chiaki (one of the usual voice lines that Chiaki has in the game). It´s also foreshadowing for the next entry in the franchise, the DR3 anime (that I hope you also get to cover in some way or another for the channel). It has a specific order but you can always ask the order and people will tell you.

By the way, it would be cool if you cool make a video(s) for Ultra Despair Girls Hagakure. Just like with Toko, it actually gives some interesting development to Hiro, introduces a very interesting character and is overall a great story.

Once again, great let´s play. I really enjoyed.

  21. I'm sure a lot of people have said this, but PLEASE watch the anime. I love hearing your opinions on this series and even if it has to just be a blurb at the beginning of V3, I would love to know.

  22. Good job finishing the game. I'm glad that despite the various bumps on the road the ending managed to somewhat redeem the experience for you. I'm looking forward to you continuing to V3 when that happens.

  23. Surprised y'all didn't notice the Warriors of Hope all survived in the 2nd to last picture. And you can tell they survived since Jataro had his mask off.

  24. Congrats on finishing Ultra Despair Girls! I'm excited to see you play V3 next. It has some of the lowest lows but also some of the highest highs of the entire series.
