  1. Spoilers

Personally, I always tried to rationalise the scene with the 'ghost' as Komaru just having some kind of hallucination brought on by all the stress of the game's events, and her subconscious maybe just reasoning things out with all the snippets of information she's seen so far… if that makes sense. I've no idea if that explanation stacks up when you consider every single dialogue branch or information source present in the game, but for some reason I always felt like the idea of incorporating the supernatural into the Danganronpa universe just doesn't really fit.

  2. Or Komaru is having a little psychotic break, and has subconsciously but this all together, and just hallucinated it all. (sarcasm)

  3. Genuinely, my favorite part of the ghost "pay-off" is ABSOLUTELY that Komaru should be an Ultimate. All this, "I'm just a normal girl" nonsense was clearly lies 🤣

  4. Gina seems a little preoccupied… she says the word “head” 3 times in the first 30 seconds or so. I wonder what’s bothering her, guess I’ll find out soon

  5. i really didn't think this game would remind me of disco elysium but 5 minutes in and the dead body is cussing out the protagonist. it's one surprise after the other with despair girls huh?

  6. The children's song, "Let's Play with Monokuma," becomes even creepier if you know Japanese. It's an actual children's choir singing lyrics about competing to kill adults, piling up their corpses, and singing together so the blood overflows. I'll wager more than a few people needed therapy after working on this game…😨Maybe people who played the game, too, come to think of it.

  7. I mean, it’s not like this game has only ever said adults are horrible. It’s just that the specific main kids have had awful experiences with them so they ended up hating adults in general. I don’t think the game itself ever took the position that “all adults are bad.” It just shows the perspective of the kids to an especially large degree because they’re simply the main focus of the story.

  8. they could've just replace all the ghost stuff with a just picture of Monica on his desk…

  9. I don't know why so many people need to rationalize the ghost thing to themselves. Danganronpa is absolutely batshit insane lmao, ghosts are FAR from the most absurd thing in this series 😂

  10. I hope y'all get a fun game that doesn't make you think about how the SA storyline character is so badly done and how the game could've been better if it both took some things more seriously and also put more effort into things after this. Like, the SA storyline is… a lot. And I like DR.

  11. I'm ashamed to admit that in the short break between the last episode and this one I watched the whole Dangan Ronpa 1 and 2 playthroughs…

  12. Hagekure literally has a 1/3 chance to get a super accurate vision of the future. No matter how absurd. First games bad ending shows this. (Heck I’m sure he see alternate realities then.) So why does this bother people?

  13. Monaca's room gives me flashbacks to that person who is making their houss entirely Sayaka-themed.
    ENTIRELY Sayaka-themed.

  14. Obviously, the Ultimate Recruiter would have a sixth sense on when someone's about to realize their ultimate talent!

  15. Putting aside the discourse over the actual status of the body, I would be out cold before I finished removing someone's eye, but I'd have a chance with removing a head.

As far as the ghost goes, all I can do is laugh at how you can take a series like Danganronpa where you don't bat an eye at almost anything anymore and they still manage to get you with this. From an entertainment perspective, it's pretty good.

  16. So komaru can see ghosts? She‘s a spirit medium…? Well fitting for an absolutely boring, normal, down to the middle medium level girl I guess 😛

Also while it is missable, there‘s literally a shiny down the stairs that heavily alludes to this conclusion (that sadly got missed last episode because of unlucky camera movement) so personally I didn‘t mind this loredrop too much…

  17. Something to point out about the reveal with the ghost. There´s actually much more lore that ties to Monaka´s connection to the Towa family and their corporation. The biggest one being a collectible that you missed in the previous episode that was meant to be like a big lore complement before the scene with the ghost.

Do you remember that you got info about all the parents of the warriors of hope in the previous episode that showed how terrible they were? You only found 4 notes but there was actually another one. The one from Monaka´s relative.

Similar to how those notes were written by the father or mother of the respective member of the warriors of hope the note for Monaka leaves pretty much clear that it was Haiji the one who wrote it. Saying things like how he hated that "she" got into their family, and things like "She isn´t my sister, she is just the old man´s mistake" and also things like how he hates that she is a genius that is smart enough to help Towa Group to earn money and other things like that.

The game also leaves other hints previous to that one in Haiji´s dialogues like how Haiji says that he and his father losing control of the factory that created the monokumas was "probably because of her". Later on, right before the fight againts Nagisa, Haiji also says to him: "You´re here because of her, right? If she can´t have it she sent you destroy it, isn´t it?" (referring to big bang monokuma). And in the conversation about the scan that required Haiji´s father eyes to open the elevator he says: "It wasn´t originally closed, you need retinal identification to open it, she probably locked the elevator as a way to torment me but I´m not playing her little game" (referring to Monaka locking the elevator to force him to see his father´s dead body).

Also, the most scientific explanation that I can think for what happened in the scene about the ghost is that having to carry the head of a dead person made Komaru have hallucinations caused by the fear. This combined with all the information that she has gathered so far (like all the previously mentioned) made her have an epiphany about the connection between Towa Family and Monaka which she interpreted as a revelation given by a ghost. Then she got out of the "trance" when she heard Toko´s voice.

By the way, you probably know this by now but just in case, that stink bug was Toko´s relative (because she doesn´t have any friends or family that loves her) and it´s also part of why she smells bad all the time.

  18. Ah, good old zero escape style storytelling: it's definitely foreshadowed but it's still really stupid!

  19. “It’s like the floor in the Shining!” That had me on the floor! 🤣🤣🤣

Also I read somewhere that the stink bug is related to Toko because she doesn’t bath.
