Today we go back to the Catacombs and find the weak little sissy named Pinwheel. We then go to Duke’s Archives, find the Crystal Cave, and fight Seath the Scaleless and obtain our first Lord soul in the process! Very cool 🙂

I realise I should've included a clip of the raw footage to show you how bad the audio was before I cleaned it up, because I think my disclaimer looks a wee bit dramatic on its own lol! either way, apologies again for the lower-than-usual quality, I'm bummed about it but I hope you can enjoy the video anyway and trust we'll be back to normal next time. Thank you so much for watching and supporting
Awesome videos
Love your videos!!
You got to admit rolling off that ladder was funny though
Crystal cave gives such a unique vibe being there, everything feels so magical. There is only one place with the same vibe which is Raya Lucaria castle 🥳
I was expecting the worst with that intro 🤣 but the audio is great, i've seen entire playthrough of this game on here who had worse audio than on in this video.
You have high standards, not that you shouldn't. Keep it up.
Did you by a chance kill the blue crystal golem in dukes archive before the first encounter of Seath?
Pinwheel is the Rick, Soldier of God of Dark Souls.
All that hard work in the dukes archive and you fell down the ladder, heartbreaking 😔😱
Pinwheel is like the boss where someone missed a digit when setting their health bar. Everyone is like 'is that it?' every time they fight them the first time. Audio is fine btw. Couldnt even tell there was ever a problem
Technical issues happen it’s ok! The Crystal Cave looks beautiful, I am enjoying the Series! 🤗
Clearly a lover of people called Celine 18:00… Emmalition in concert when? 👀
I haven't tried dark souls on Switch, but it works nicely on Steam Deck. Even Elden Ring plays well on that.
Audio is fine, Emma. I think you cleaned it up nicely. I'm far into the video now and I'm not really noticing at this point. Sorry about the troubles, though. I'm sure it was very upsetting for you but it's good you decided to go ahead with the episode. Have a great week!
pinwheel is an early-game boss, but even in early-game, it's a shit boss. many players usually kill pinwheel first for the rite of kindling 🙂 ( and the audio sounds fine, )
Dark Souls and Chaos go well together. 😉
You can kindle up to 3 times at any bonfire, for a total of 20 chugs, that’s what the Rite of Kindling does. Congrats on beating Pinwheel btw, most terrifying boss in Soulsborne history. 3 hits, you must have been under leveled. 😂 jk. Awesome watch as always.
Can’t wait to see you play Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin and Dark Souls III and your reactions to my favourite bosses in all three souls titles, you met Sif already that’s one of three in dark souls 1!
DS on the Switch is what got me into the whole genre! It looks and plays great. 10/10, would recommend.
And yes btw Dark Souls runs perfectly on Switch. I did all my playthroughs on PC back then and wanted to try it out on console, my PS4 version was buggy as hell so then went to get it on Switch to play in bed and it was a smooth sailing. I did 2 NG+ playthrough solely playing on handheld.
Now if only there was cross-save between platforms like The Witcher 3, using the same data save between PC and Switch was amazing for that game.
I know you had problems with the sound Emma but you did a great job at cleaning it up so it didn't really distract from a really entertaining episode 🤩 keep up the fabulous work 🙏🫶🙌🌺
You have to put the shield down at least half a second before attempting a backstab. Just putting it down right before hitting R1 does not work, as seen many times here with the crystal warriors.
Ah it's Sunday, time to once again come over and watch the nice British lady swear like a sailor 😂
The Claymore was my favorite weapon in DS2 although the Zweihander knockdowns are pretty awesome as well. I usually shied away from the weapon cause if you miss you leave yourself open for so long. Have you also considered trying some of the boss weapons since you gained access to Anor Londo blacksmith?
The audio was ok, no issues listening.
About the skellies in the Catacombs…you already have a weapon that can kill them, the Occult Club you picked up in Havel armor room in Anor Londo. No need for it anymore, though. BTW, there should be one more necromancer in a somewhat hidden area in Catacombs…after you kill all of them, the last one will drop the Skull Lantern which comes in very handy in the dark area after Pinwheel.
Speaking of him, From Soft is expecting players to venture into Catacombs and fight him much sooner, which is why he's so weak. People ususally come there much later so he is no threat and he's kind of a meme boss, poor guy…
Oysters outside of Seath boss room are the best and easy souce of Twinkling Titanites. It would be a good idea to pop 1 Humanity for the boost in item find chance and farm them.
Zweihander is a slow and heavy weapon, hits hard. The "pancake" strong attack is great, especially when 2-handing. As with all heavy weapons, the distance and timing your attacks is the key. More Endurance also wouldn't hurt, fast roll and more stamina for swings…
There is no Firekeeper Soul in the Catacombs but there are other places to get them, to boost the Estus. There is one right when you enter New Londo, to the side, and one in the niche with the dart guys as you exit lower Blightown via the wheel. You can also get them by killing Firekeepers, like the armored lady in Anor Londo. Speaking of Anor Londo, fun things happen if you attack the big boobed lady in her room in Anor Londo using some ranged attack…
Now that you can warp between bonfires, there's a hidden surprise behind a chest up a branch in the Blightown swamp…
Great episode! Glad to see you have embraced the ways of the zweihander. That prick helped me pancake my way through my first playthrough. A heavy gent. A pointy master.
Enemy analysis of the skeleton wheelboiz confirmed:
Pathetic ✅
Wheely hard enemy ✅
Pricks ✅
Horrible ✅
Absolutely evil ✅
Bunch of assholes ✅
Bloody shitheads ✅
More lord souls!! Get them aaaaaaall
Message to "perfectionist" Emma; the audio is FINE! I can relate to your high standards just relax and enjoy, your vids are top notch, NO doubting yourself!!! Yeah, those Skeleton Wheels used to be ALOT tougher, in the original version of Dark Souls. In the Remaster they made them less troublesome/weaker, Well done, all the same!! You found Vamos, the "fire" blacksmith, a lot of people miss his hideout! Nice Job on Pinwheel! He is a tough one AND you got The Mask of The Child, WELL DONE!! Stamina recovery IS bae! Another thing I noticed, in the Crystal Cave, in the remaster version they put FAR more developer messages, on the paths, than in the original version. I spent DAYS, in that Cave trying to master ALL the pathways using a hundred prism stones, at least! The Dukes Archives is a late game area, good for you clearing it out early, in your playthrough. "I have really clammy hands" then Fanta runs into ACTUAL clams, LOL! Nice!! Level 69, Luke all done playing!! Fanta is twitching with excitement!
You can kindle to 20 estus with the rite of kindling u got from pinwheel
I've played through this on Switch; it's runs just fine. 👍
Hi Emma, love your style and videos, just a tip for you about humanity. If you are out of heals use a humanity for a full heal. Cheers. Best of luck with the remainder of the game.
I play dark souls 1 on switch, runs perfectly, I'm now on NG+7 or something, no idea why I'm still playing tbh
You did a great job with the audio. The video is still a great one, no worries. I enjoyed it, and I'm glad you enjoy playing DS. Thank you for the video and for the editing. You clearly care a lot about the quality of the videos, and we can't thank you enough for this. Many people can learn a lot from you.
dunno if anyone has said, but the mimic chest's chain on the right side points towards you. regular chest chains point away. Just to help you tell without zweihandering those darn boxes.
The audio is totally fine. Give editor Emma a bonus.
the crystal guys are easily parried and riposted
I don't play on switch, but I do play the DS series and other FS/etc games on Steam Deck, and the performance is great! Strong recommend.
Good work cleaning up the audio, stopped noticing almost immediately. Also good job getting so much done in just 90 minutes, took me ages just getting Lautrec
honestly im in my 30's and still remember fondly the early days of lets plays pre 2010 and i oddly loved the shitty audio from the players speaking lmao. it gives it that good old cozy feel.
Emma parrying npc enemies! nice one! lautrec that bitch didnt see it comin haha
I never offer the lord souls until I have all of them. I tend to forget which ones I've already got otherwise. lol
Here are few tips. Mimics are still chests and they still contain useful items so you should kill them. Rite of kindling allows you to kindle bonfires 3 times now for max of 20 flasks. You could've gotten Moonlight Greatsword from Seath's tail, but you weren't hitting his tail, tails are on the back not on the side, lol. You should check the archive prison again, you can explore other cells and find some cool items and there's also an NPC in there you missed. You also missed the onion bro back in the Anor Londo and you cannot progress his questline until you speak to him there. There should be someone in that field with crystal golems that's part of his questline but it's not there because you must talk to him in Anor Londo first. And you missed the illusionary wall somewhere among spiky bridges down in catacombs, there's something nice and warm behind it. And the best tip of all, don't speed run, take it slow and explore, that's the best thing about souls games, exploring and enjoying the game, not rushing through it. 😁
The rite of kindling now lets you kindle to up to 20 estus flasks, you should kindle each bonfire to 20 if you have enough humanity as they carry over to new game+
Such a fun episode! 💕 Didn't notice the audio much at all 🙂 you did a great job with Seath!! And I had a similarly confusing Pinwheel encounter, walking in there with no estus thinking there was no way I'd make it out alive 😛 I think the round spiky boys in the previous room are the real bosses of the catacombs 😂 They can truly get fucked lol
RIP moonlight Greatsword
