Sometimes, even I don’t want to do a challenge run. But that doesn’t mean I won’t research it and figure out how it COULD be done.

Welcome to Ye of Little Faith, where I dive into how community-suggested challenge runs could be done and the best strategies to complete them…if you were actually sadistic enough to even attempt them.

  1. Welcome to YOLF. Make yourself at home. This might be a series, or it might get punted over to the 2nd Channel. Depends on how much you all enjoy it.
Let me know if you enjoyed the video, any constructive criticism about the style if you have any, and any stories about DS2 Fists Only you might have!

    Thanks much much.

  2. i did this aaaages ago when i went for the dark souls 2 sotfs platinum trophy. it takes some time to set up but
    1. you can do a parry riposte on the edge of majula pit to skip the whole gearing up to fall into the hole
and 2. rhoy is semi easy to just kick off the ledge. don't need force though force is probably easier.
only issue i had on this run was velstadt. his slender figure made it hard to land hits with your fists. i ended with 50 str as my dmg stat, anything more than that seemed unnecessary

  3. I've done this one thinking it would be a challenge but im the end i found myself having dumb fun bonking things in the head with one twos and hammers, 10/10 experience definitely recommend it

  4. Your chillness and friendliness makes you by far my favorite streamer. Thanks for this new one!

  5. Okay so I got to the invading npc farm. But I used the pharaoh lockstep at the first bridge I came across thinking it was that one and now I don't have one for the bridge I need.
Am I screwed. Do I have to restart.

  6. I love this kind of content actually, there’s a lot of challenges I see get done for various games, and while I do enjoy challenge runs from time to time, shorter videos like these telling me about potential challenge ideas without too much fluff is very much welcome. I myself once did a minimalist run of legend of Zelda: link between worlds. I would NOT recommend it. It was fun, up until the final boss, who because of my low health and defense, could one shot me with even the slightest error. I did eventually do it and it was incredibly satisfying, but it is NOT a run I would ever recommend to anyone.

  7. I always wondered what it took to be a challenge runner. This is definitely a good glimpse into what it takes to do this sort of thing.

I’ll probably never do it and continue to die over and over and over again in dark souls. But I’ll keep playing.

  8. Instead of fist only do the street fighter one (bone fist ?) Only. You will have to mod the weapon to the beggining of the game since that fist is a late game weapon, but that is easy.

  9. This kind of content is really awesome. I love this insight into the preparation that goes into challenge running, because I do it myself on occasion. I think a lot of viewers that aren't runners themselves think a lot of stuff is possible, without thinking of what would be feasible.

  10. I like this style of video. I think adding some drawn bits to give a visual aid that isn't just a wiki article might help keep people's eyes on the video.

  11. I LOVE the idea of this as a series, I usually care most about the techniques and ideas that go into these runs and not about the runs themselves. Hope this becomes a thing

  12. This highlights for me why I always resort to the same0ish build in a dark souls play through… Some weapons work great, while others seem fun but suck fun

  13. I'll never forget my fist only champions covenant run without champions seal run. I did it on a whim and I barely beat the run cuz of throne watcher and defender boss. Craziest run I ever did and I'll never forget it. Coolest challenge run I ever did

  14. Personally I enjoy these sorts of "backend" videos. Challenges are great fun and all, but seeing the thought and planning that goes into them leaves me a very special sort of enraptured.

  15. I made a old timey prizefighter and had him wear nothing but pants and boots, of course fists only Had bone gloves and Ceastus and went into iron bridge to do fight clubs was fun time

  16. Wow, this new series seems really interesting, a clean, non confusing breakdown of steps needed and sparking people to see if they are interested in giving it a go to boot. Would love to see what other YOLF videos may come out.

  17. I like this kind of video! You did all the planning, I just have to do the run. Maybe I’ll redownload DS2 now…

  18. To me, theorycrafting and optimizing around the challengerun-limitations are the most fun part 🙂

This was quite neat to see how you do that, so I appreciate it ^^

  19. I did this run back in regular Dark Souls 2 shortly after the Scholar update, farming the awestones was pretty easy off the great sword knight just before the dragonrider in Heide's, in regards to which boss was the biggest hurdle, I honestly don't recall many bosses giving much trouble, I can say that it's the run that caused me to really get good at Iron King without cheese, there was just something so satisfying about nailing the rolls through his large swings that made me not want to use the door cheese

  20. Oooooooh I /really/ like this concept. Allows for you to show and discuss particular concepts without having to actually go through the whole damn thing, especially for ones that are interesting to discuss but would be horrendous to actually do.

  21. I have actually done this run and I have to say that I am not at all good at this game, or indeed any of the games from soft has made. it's not as time consuming as it seems. its just very tedious. this is because Flyn's Ring really does make or break some parts of the run for damage output. it's tricky since you'll end up wanting to avoid putting levels into anything that controls carrying capacity. this is because Flyn's Ring actually helps LESS if you can carry more than 60. you'll also want the Steel ring if you're getting Flyn's Ring. this is largely because running around Naked starts to be less fun when you get to certain areas. sadly I would have to reccomend the "True Aurous set" that you get by dropping something like 10,000 souls on Maughlin, die, come back to him with 0 souls and he will just GIVE you the set out of pitty. now I know you see his set. and you'll want it, it's an extra 25% more souls from a game that only lets you kill the same enemy 10 times before they stop spawning, then have to rejoin the covenant of champions to kill the same enemy 10 more times before the stop spawning again. but the "True Aurous set" has the added effect of increasing your carrying capacity, thus largely mitigating the careful dance of equip load and equipment to a degree.

my run ended some point after getting into the castle because I got board and was finally able to play DS3 with my pc.

  22. Lemon, if you put a recording on youtube with your voice, you bet your buttons I'll watch it! This was good content, I'd love to see more!
