You're lucky you missed Sif stumbling and falling over 😭you did the last 1/6 health bar so quickly that we were all spared the heartbreak
also, Sif is a good girl 😀
Any black knight weapon are weapons which can carry you through to the endgame. That being said a Claymore +15 is also really good. Divine Zweihander is great, because its powerful and will stagger skeletons which is also a good bonus.
Its always fun to watch other persons play dark souls
So "How do you like them apples?" is out and "Not today, homeslice" is in. 😂
Also, just keep playing it your way; that's what we here for. That, and making Havel look like an absolute chump!
Right, so there's a couple of right answers to the weapon question. Claymore and Zweihander are both very solid weapons. The difference is mainly weight and that the Zwei knocks down enemies like nothing, but it can also be tricky in narrow tunnels. Going with a divine weapon for when you encounter skeletons is a very good idea. You don't need the faith scaling but keeping them down is very useful, and the Zwei knocks them about.
The Black Knight Sword and Black Knight Greatsword are slightly better versions of the Clay and Zwei, but they require Twinkling Titanite to upgrade which is still a bit rare early on. But since you're not using it for anything else, I would advise you to pick one and put resources into it. Maybe if you're dedicating the Zwei for divine, do the BKGS for your big damage. It needs a bit more strength but you're almost there. Then switch once the BKGS overtakes your Claymore. At that point you can turn that one into Lightning. Oh, and the BK weapons can't become elemental.
You've been rather lucky. The Black Knight weapons are not guaranteed drops, but if they do drop, they can carry you through the entire game if you can farm/find the materials to keep them up to scratch.
If you like great swords you can get one from making a covenant with grave lord nito in the catacombs
Shame you found Sif before the dlc. If you did the dlc first, Sif would recognise you! 🙂
The Black Knight Sword is really good (black knight weapons are generally great, but the BKS is a greatsword like the claymore so you’d be more used to its moveset), and unlike the Claymore it takes Twinkling Titanite to upgrade, so you can upgrade it to give it a go and you won’t be wasting the regular titanite you’d use for the claymore
(Also you were reading the damage stats wrong. The main number on the left is base damage and gets a flat buff with upgrades, and the number on the right with a plus or minus sign is the extra damage you get from your stats and the weapon’s scaling)
The hydra can be killed with bow you just aim at each head
Is the Grey Wolf Sif a good boy? You don't know the half of it! 😭😉
Yep black Knight sword is really good, and ye I really want you to go to Anor Londo, you can find some amazing chests there haha
Black Knight Sword! Go for it. Also, poise and fast roll are mandatory for me.
"Weakness: tears, " indeed :'(
At least you didn't have to see Sif limping towards the end of the fight. 😭
Dark souls 1 is slow because of the lack of fast travel and non-linear map , don't worry about getting XYZ done everything in its own time, you're supposed to get lost while exploring and all that good stuff during your first playthrough.
Also laughing at 50:42 – 50:44 the smile fading real quick realising it's boss time 🐕⚔
So if you beat the Knight Artorias dlc before you fight wolf you’ll be given a different opening clip. This is a extremely sad boss fight when you know who he is and your ties to him.
Hey Emma great episode as always. Also Sif is just the best boy it's so sad that we have to do this. Btw you should definitely use the black knight greatsword, black knight weapons in general are super op especially in dark souls 1. Bump this to +10 and you breeze and you will breeze through the game like no other. 🙂
38:41 Dark Souls IS relaxing! Once you get the proper gear, the game is GREAT to just explore and have a chill time. Thank You SO much for sharing your experience with the Souls Series. Nice to hear You feel "cozy" when playing it, it is infectious! It really comes "across" on the screen! From Soft games really give you that "challenge" THEN that sense of "accomplishment" followed by "cozy time" exploring. Good to see you understand and enjoy the challenges of these EPIC worlds!
Never apologise for playing a game the way you like. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we're all here to see you explore and enjoy this game we love.
Nobody likes their "first" SIF fight. His spirit is VERY resilient, He lives ON!
Your Claymore CAN get you through the game, if you really LIKE the moveset. The "two handed" THRUST is my jam. One of the best light swords (IMHO), is the "Balder Straight Sword", it is lighter and has the same moveset as Claymore, and swings MUCH faster, doing LESS damage. You can actually get MORE hits off due to "stamina" consumption. They drop from the Balder Knights in the Church where you rang first BELL. Since the game only gives you ONE Zweihander, YOUR instincts are correct, I would leave that the way it is. I usually would use a Balder straight sword OR the basic Longsword to change/infuse to DIVINE. Divine weapons are somewhat only good, in the Catacombs so try to use a COMMON weapon that is easy to farm. The Black Knight Sword and Greatsword have VERY specific movesets! They are STRONG but you should try them OUT, for sure before investing Twinkling Titanite Or is it Demon Titanite, one of the two upgrades those Black Knight swords. They are RARE drops that you got, for sure! Test them out YOU may like! Great Episode, Thank You for the hard work, you do!!
Black Knight sword is a very solid weapon, definitely worth using.
"The Abyss" IS a place you will run into later, I would avoid looking it up, because I believe you WILL get spoiled. It is a significant area that is somewhat hidden, and HALF the fun is FINDING it! I guarantee you will find it, eventually! Only advice, you do YOU!!
And after i told you to leave the forest for past dlc. Emma…. Well, too late now, might as well tell you about that wolf you murdered and his master Artorias. And if you felt bad before, you'll feel even worse after you hear the story. SPOILERS While everyone else is a mindless hollow, Sif is there simply guarding the grave of his best friend. Years ago while Sif was still just a cub, his former master and his best friend Artorias made the ultimate sacrifice to protect his best friend at the cost of his own life. He used his magical shield to make a barrier that will keep Sif safe from the abyss and in doing so he was left defenseless against it. Darkness of the abyss clouded his mind and tore apart his soul, but even so he kept fighting with everything he had until his last breath, heavily injured and with one arm completely broken, until he completely lost control over his body. But even than, everything he felt in those last moments were regrets that he couldn't do more, that he failed everyone he was supposed to protect, begging everyone for forgiveness for availing them nothing. And years later, Sif is there, all grown up, protecting his friend's grave with his life, like Artorias once did for him, until they can be together again in afterlife. And that ring behind the gravestone, it belonged to the woman that loved Artorias. If you did the dlc first like i suggested, you would get an alternate cutscene when you would go to Sif. He would first attack you and than recognize the familiar scent, slowly sniff you couple of times and than the look in his eyes would change as he remembers you, bow his head down and close his eyes quietly whining and as you reach your hand for him let out a sad howl and slowly walk towards the sword and pick it up. And you also didn't see this because you were too aggressive with him but when his health gets low he starts limping.
Great episode as ever. The Dark Root areas feels like a walk in the park for you, but still great fun. I love the confidence you take down Black Knights with now. Did you ever kill the cats of camera I enjoyed that you let it live 😀
Either way, don't feel any pressure, just enjoy the game and it will be the most enjoyable for us! And don't worry too much about where to go. Go wherever you feel is the most interesting to you! Your honest reaction to everything this game puts in front of you is what makes this a great watch!
– Sif is definately a good boy (good girl? there are some conflicting theories). You will hopefully get to know more about her and her master later. Damn you Miyazaki for having us all kill that wolf! At least you didn't have to see the really sad limping animation she can get 😥
– The Black Knight Sword is probably my most favorite sword in the game, It also uses a different kind of materials to anything you've been leveling so far so there is no real problem leveling it up and trying it out.
– There is NO reason for you to google the Abyss, the Abyss will find you. You'll know.
– Great work on even finding Dusk. You absolutely MUST meet her again where you fought the Hydra (I am only saying this because NOTHING in the game will even hint to that…)
– If you enjoy the light rolling life you might want to look up the Dark Wood Grain Ring. If you don't want to spoil yourself then it is absolutely fine, but you will not find it unless you actively look for it. (I think that ring makes the game even more fun 🙂 )
– If you want to level your Pyromancy Flame you should consider doing so soon, still some time but you will be locked out of leveling up the Flame to its maximum potential if you wait too long.
– You are using even fewer armor pieces now; not using all your slots is a bad call in DS1 because of the way Defense is calculated. Lighter armor in all your slots will offer you much better protection to most things.
Genuinely almost had a heart attack when you swung the Claymore right at Andre lmao. Girl you are playing with fire 😂
Don’t get bogged down with beating bosses Emma, we watch this channel for you and your experience through dark souls.
Put it this way, you’ve played bloodborne, no one cares much about the chalice dungeons, which are really just mini dungeons littered with bosses. You got your subscribers because of how you experienced the game and it’s atmosphere whilst coming up with catchy songs along the way. And now we’re back in Lordran with you because you and Fanta are Poggers Emma😂
I'd definitely give the black Knight Greatsword a look. Skip the regular black Knight sword in my opinion.
GG you got the black knight sword, definitely worth leveling
Dearly beloved…. I … just.. no… I mean you could but then… and it's better that.. I just think that…. oh well I'll just enjoy the video.
Hi emma! Loving the series! You can zoom in when using the binocular or a bow using the d-pad up/down.
I love watching your videos. Try not to stress out on making sure you get certain objectives done in a video. Just have fun. Besides, you eventually run into big enemies or a boss when you go exploring so it all works out in the end.
Also, the fight with Sif gets even worse when her health is extremely low because she begins limping. Poor thing, it's enough to bring a tear to one's eyes 😢
Oh, and also, if you can't remember where to go, read the item descriptions of your keys.
The wooden arrows are a better bargain! They do a little less damage but at less than a third of the price of the standard ones.
I always feel bad about killing Sif but you cannot complete the game without doing so!
I've tried the black knight sword and BK great sword, and am just too much of a fan of the claymore. I love the two handed over head swing followed up by the under hand swing, and that poke is amazing. It's even better in DS3 with it's weapon art and shield breaking ability.
15:25 Black knight sword early in the game is as good a weapon you will ever need at least for your first playthrough. Fulfil the minimum stat requirements in your strength and dex and put rest in your faith or intelligence if you want that kind of build. Its strong attacks take bit too much time though…..
I totally get what you’re saying about dark souls being relaxing. Seems like it would have the opposite effect, but there is something about it that really chills you out.
I'm almost certain that Sif has a special limping animation at low health that didn't happen for you– wouldn't recommend googling it, it's terribly sad
At least you finished Sif quickly, because when you get him down to around 10-15% health, he loses most of his mobility and limps around pathetically. You realllly would have been bummed out. Sif is a good boy, but there is rarely a happy ending for those in the Soulsborne sagas. Hell, rarely a happy beginning and middle either.
