Replacement for my old FFIX longplay. This one has much higher video quality.
Through this run I do most sidequests including Ozma, chocobo hot and cold, coffee side quest, skipping, racing Hippaul, S-rank medal etc, and generally try to steal items from each boss except towards the end when it wasn’t really needed.
The side quests I don’t complete are Quina’s frog eating as its never something I’ve been interested in doing, ragtime mouse and the Nero brothers quest. I run weird sometimes to avoid random battles appearing. –

This game looks so nice when you emulate it with these display/video settings:
– 2x internal resolution (~720p)
– smoothing filter/shader on top like bilinear or some other anti-aliasing
– 1x/original dithering size
Playing like this allows you to see the models (especially at a distance) with better detail. It really helps you see the textures, designs, and faces of characters in the game that are otherwise pretty pixelated. IMO this looks much better than the PC version which has blurred the backgrounds to the point of lost detail; and the models/characters still stand out pretty bad.
Further explanation/rational for the settings:
Why not higher than 2x resolution? Because then the models start to really stand out from the low-res background, and it also makes the backgrounds appear more pixellated/sharp despite shaders/filters.
Why a smoothing/anti-aliasing filter? Because it helps blend the models with the background, helps to slightly blur the backgrounds to appear less pixellated, and helps reduce flickering on certain details of the models.
Why the original 1x dithering size? Because the checkerboard pattern is at the same resolution as the backgrounds, and further helps blend the models into the background. Dithering also helps add an impression of extra depth and lighting as well.

This game was so refreshing after the convoluted mess that was Final Fantasy VIII. I was burned out on Dystopian environments, and enjoyed coming back to a medieval world tinged with steampunk elements.

This game bring back memories. The game is wonderful, beautiful, greatest. Story,sound music, all in ff9 game touch my heart.

i still remember getting this for my birhtday and playing it multiple times from different save points to get all the best weapons and trying to do the jump rope challenge. this is just a nostalgic games that just gets better and better each time I see it.
I played this when I was around 9, but the game was in Japanese. I fell in love with the game and played it anyway. Can't believe I finished the game 3+ times in Japanese! I didn't understand what was really happening but still, it was one of the best stories ever.
At first glance this game looked boring but oh boi was i wrong.
