When I go to Japan and I don't see random fist fights break out in the streets, I'm going to be very disappointed.
One thing which is kind of important but not readily apparent to non-Japanese people is just how wildly Majima's speech code-switches. When talking to the customer, his Japanese is extremely formal and elegant, almost but not quite to the level of parody, but when he talks to his staff, he sounds like Osakan gutter-trash. Basically it's the Japanese equivalent of switching between sounding like Stephen Fry and sounding like Joe Pesci.
