  1. 13 sentinels is such a wonderful game. Too many people slept on it

  2. Also, I need to get back to my new game plus of Three Houses. Golden Deer is just so damn boring compared to Black Eagles.

  3. FF12 is in my backlog. I bought it because Ivalice. Tactics is one of my favorite games of all time, let alone ff games. Even if I'm not a fan of some of the newer games in the series.

  4. Great Video. I've played a few of these and have most of the rest waiting to be played.
Octopath Traveler is one of those special games that I wish I could play again for the first time as it was absolutely magical.
Even though I only beat Ys 8 last month its easily within my top 10 best games ever. Everything about that game is amazing (battle system, music, story, graphics).
If I didn't have heaps of other games to play I would probably still be playing Fire Emblem 3 houses – but I stopped at 2 runs (Golden Deer for life!)
Tales of Vesperia is a funny one. I loved the story and the skits but the combat system really annoyed me to the point of nearly giving up. But I just had to finish the story

  5. I didn't like the Xenoblade Chronicles at all. I've tried it multiple times and I just don't like the combat. Can't even say why. I love FFXII and the combat is somewhat similar, but I just didn't jell with it. I took one look at 2's HUD and noped out before buying. I don't like a lot of large UI hovering over what I'm trying to look at. Personal tastes vary though.

  6. I'd also recommend I am setsuna and lost sphear if you're into old school rpgs. Also cthulu saves Christmas and cosmic star heroine if you want something bite sized.

  7. for those who want something more relaxed/“casual”: rune factory 4 special is a jrpg/farming sim hybrid that does both genres extremely well. it’s usually called the best rune factory game for a reason!

it has a really in depth crafting system and while the farming system definitely is not up to standards with more modern farming system like stardew valley, it makes up for it for its really fun combat and other features.

it has 3 story arcs, which are pretty good plot wise (get ready for power of friendship galore lol) but what really is great are the characters. there is SO much dialogue and events between the characters that you really feel apart of the town. all the characters are really lovable and just are so much fun to talk to and see about going their lives.

i’ve been really enjoying it and recommend it to anyone who wants something chill but also still very engaging and fun!!

  8. Great list. One third of these games I own and love, One third I own and haven't played yet, and the other third are games I've been considering buying but haven't lol

Shout out to dusk diver and astral chain.

  9. As someone who has played JRPGs since I was a kiddo back in the nineties…Dragon Quest 11 (w/ orchestral music) it's the best one I've every played. It stays super true to the original magic of why JRPGs worked as a genre as far as style, combat and so on. Whether it's Golden Sun, early Final Fantasy games (including the early, early spinoffs), early Dragonquest games and so on…this is the BIG GRANDADDY of it all, it's just so damn well done. Beautiful, beautiful game. I actually cried during the story haha

  10. Ah jeez one more of those damn videos that recommend the same bullcrap that everyone knoooooooooooooooooooooowaitaminit.

    Dude… Woah, dude…

  11. How about Dragon Quest 1 + 2 + 3? the classic games in one, and you can knock them out in not too much time?

  12. I actually enjoyed Ys 9 more than 8, mostly because it was a lot more fun exploring places due to special powers.

  13. Bro platinum games is without a doubt the best JRPG game company period. They make the most well written immersive journeys possible.. no company comes close. You put me on to Astral chain now too I'm already sold and getting it asap.

But honestly the only other game company that comes close is Vanillaware/ Atlus games. They make without a doubt the best scrolling JRPGs that have ever existed.

  14. Dude I watched this video yesterday morning way before the direct… and when you mentioned Atelier Ryza i was like fk yes we need the next one (i loved 1 & 2 a lot) … few hours later… Atelier Ryza 3 announced

  15. Bought Switch couple of weeks ago to play Arceus & upcoming Pokemon game(s) but been playing just Xenoblade 3 since then. It's the kind of RPG/JRPG I want to sink in. This is my first time playing anything outside of PC & XC3 has been such a delight to me. If someone can recommend similar games in very recent year(s) I'm open to it given that it has companion feature like XC3/ I just don't wanna play/roam alone.

  16. So glad you mention Astral Chain. That game was one of the first games I bought on the Switch and I loved it…
