Phantasy Star Online 2[9] (often abbreviated as “PSO2”) is a free-to-play online action role-playing game in the Phantasy Star series, developed and published by Sega. It was created as a successor to Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe, Phantasy Star Online 2 features gameplay elements and aesthetics reminiscent of previous Phantasy Star games while incorporating a few unique twists on the formula. The first version was released for Windows in Japan in July 2012.
A PlayStation Vita version was released in February 2013, but shut down in September 2020. A PlayStation 4 version was released in April 2016. A spin-off/companion game, Phantasy Star Online 2 was released for Android and iOS in 2014. A cloud version for Nintendo Switch, entitled Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud was released in April 2018 and then on PC, released in December 2018. At E3 2019, it was announced that the game would be releasing outside of Asia for the first time on the Xbox One and Windows in early 2020.
A massive updated and separate “shared universe” game, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Cloud in the cloud version), was released on June 9, 2021. It was released for Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S worldwide, with the PlayStation 4 version releasing on August 31, 2022, and for Windows (download and cloud), Nintendo Switch (cloud) and PlayStation 4 in Japan. Although it was released nearly a decade after Phantasy Star Online 2 launch and is substantially different in gameplay, graphics, and content, the creators decided to not name it “Phantasy Star Online 3” or focus on creating a game with no backwards compatibility with PSO2 content in order to continue support for current players and to not split up the player-base between two different simultaneously available games

You can change classes about roughly an hour into the story, and you can also have subclasses that'll allow you to use other classes weapons/abilities so you can make hybrid classes if you choose to

I do agree about the character graphics and the UI. But the gameplay is so much fun especially the urgent quests when people join up to take on some giant threat.
I've really enjoyed what I've played of the game so far and I don't really have an issue with the graphics since gameplay for a game always matters more to me personally. Plus, mmorpgs tend to not have top range visuals combined with the fact that this game apparently originally launched on pc way back in 2012 with some visual enhancements since
Oh the weapon upgrade thing. It's actually easier then it seems. Just select the weapon you want to upgrade, that brings you to the screen with your other weapons. When there, just select multiple weapons you don't have a use for, to use as upgrade "fuel" and the confirm button will highlight so you can press it
Hey I play this on PC I'll have to see how it is on PlayStation I like combat in it for what I have played didn't LVL up to much on it due to playing other games can't wait to see more gameplay on this from you Ventus

I saw that this came out a couple days ago, but havent tried it cause I've been working a lot. Watching this, I'll try it out tomorrow maybe cause it looks fun. I really like your good and bad points, I know a little more what to expect with this game now

For the Graphics point, I can definitely see what you mean, especially at 11:40 with the low-res textures.
One thing to keep in mind is that, this is a PS4 version, you might've been playing on PS5 but the version you're playing is the one tailor-made for PS4, the game has been released on PS4 since day one in Japan and they have yet to make a "PS5 Optimized" version just yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was already in the pipeline. On PC though, it looks GOURGEOUS, textures and everything, so it's only a matter of time before y'all get a proper PS5 version.
As for the community part and how much of the player-base is new, even before the PS4 version there was plenty of people to play with, if you wanted a group all you had to do was go into a populated "block" and ask, and people would send you invites, and even when you don't ask for groups, there were people roaming about in the open fields, chain farming bosses.
As for your point about SEGA recently adding guns, this was in day one of NGS, the newest class who got added last month is called "Waker", which is basically a class that summons pets and uses them like Jojo's Stands.

Yea about ff14 you can do dungeons with higher leveled players, there’s a system where the higher leveled players get nerfed/ regressed for that is a lvl 30 dungeon etc.

I am downloading this tomorrow. So I’m guessing it’s full crossplatform play? Most of my friends are on PC. So hoping this would give me the ability to maybe game with them on my PS5 ??

I give 9/10rates -1 is graphics. This MMORPG grinding is friendly. Unlike other MMORPG BDO grinding pk in ur back waste of times….
