Race Highlights | 2025 Monaco Grand Prix

Here come the lights for the Monaco Grand Prix and Formula 1 goes racing on the streets of Monaco. Good launch off the line for second place man Charlotte close between Norris and Charlair. Pastri and Vstappen were very close as well into sand but the positions have held as we climb the hill. Charlotte all over the back of the McLaren he’s giving it everything but he hasn’t got the room and Norris keeps the lead into Casino Square. Norris, the Clair, Pastry, Vstafen, and Hajar, your top five. The big question is, has that lock up, was it enough to give him a flat spot? That will give him an uncomfortable ride. And Vstappen actually a little bit cautious. He was on the outside of Pestri, but then backed out of it. He’s learned that Pestri will not give him space. Bottom the outside of Antelli. And that is a move done for position there. Rookie on rookie. And the Mercedes moves backwards up the inside again. Lovely to the wall. It was brilliant and then it was in the barriers. Borletto going racing around the streets of Monaco and he had no more room at Portier. Bletto’s got it out of the barrier and that is crucial because there was no crane at Portier corner. This is lovely from him. He’s around the outside. Antonelli’s given him the the space and has not made it hard. But at some point you have to say the guy is right up the inside here. There is Anteneelli. He’s got to see that coming. Give me push me out. We’ve got a yellow flag on lap nine of 78 of the Monaco Grand Prix. We’ve got Hulkenberg all over the Williams. But what has happened to Gazzley who’s tumbling down the order here and that is why Gazzley who was going potentially in very close combat with the other cars has ripped a wheel off and for only the second time in his Formula 1 career in the Principality, he will not score. He’s trying to get it back, but he’s out. No break. No break. We’re going to go on board and see what happened to Gazzley in the dirty air of Cenod. Yeah, it’s Yuki Cenod ahead. No brakes, no front left. Race over. He’s he’s hit the brakes as he’s gone over the crest and the bump and then he’s had a bit of a rear moment and with the dirty air as well. He’s just gone into the back of uh of Cenoda. Flies almost into the path of his teammate on the exit. Ah, it’s going to need some intervention there. That’s the new Val Chicane. There’s got to be a safety card. That was close. Pastry is trying to go around it. We’ve got no intervention. That race isn’t neutralized at all. Pastri trying to avoid the debris. Super slow off the new chicane. There’s there’s a front wing on the racetrack. You would normally expect the race to be neutralized. So, yellow’s clearly being waved. He’s backed off as are the rules. And then green ahead. Probably just about okay. Probably just about okay. I don’t think Max was alongside. I think he was just behind. HAR comes in trying to take advantage. Har and Lawson and Racing Bulls are playing the absolute game of sacrifice with Lawson to make sure Hajar gets as high up as he can. This is really clever from Racing Bulls. Hajar emerges in eighth. That’s fantastic for Racing Bulls. There’s Lawson. He’s backed off. He’s done the team job. He can now go up, make a second stop, and he’s eight without any stops. Everyone else still needs to make two. Push now, Fernando. I know I haven’t given you much info, but keep pushing now. Going to cover Hamilton. Can’t push now. Ooh, that touched the nerve. Yeah, it did because you have to bring the hard tires in a a certain way. And of course, he’s got Hajar 2.2 seconds in front of him. In comes Hamilton. He can jump Hajar here. He’s just done a really quick lap. A 1 minute 14.9 whilst Hajar is on a 17-1. Back out crucially with track position. That’s what he was looking for. Keep it within the white line. He did so and Hamilton is ahead of Hajar. Hence Alono’s frustration. That is what he wanted. That nice pit stop, clear space and off he goes. Hajar’s already made another pit stop and in he comes to get that second and final one out of the way. He’ll stay ahead of Lawson. Hajar having a party around the streets of Monaco at the moment. It could not have worked out better. But when you qualify fifth as a rookie in the principality and your teammate is behind, the Fenza based team have played that one to perfection. They have pulled off the strategy that so many were talking about Monaco 1972. The race won by BRM and John Pierre Belto back in 197. Oh, check out the big brain on Brad. I’ve uh I’ve read it off the wall. I won’t lie. Is that Fernando? Fernando Alonso with smoke out of the back of the car and he’s parked it up. Rascas his Monaco Grand Prix which looks set to reward him with his first points finish of the year will end on lap 38. Yeah, retire the car. Smoke. We go on board with a big brush of the barrier for the car in third position. Let’s have a look. This is George Russell. The Williams is ahead. So is the Newvel Chicane and he chooses to try and get alongside. That was lap 49. We’ll tick on to lap 50. Avoid a collision from Alban. Just slammed on the brakes. So we need to give that position back to Alba. I take the penalty. He’s driving erratically. It’s not a 10second for George Russell. It’s a drive through which will be 20 seconds uh for his race time. Oh, and we’ve got the same thing again. So, the second Mercedes has done it. Will Antonyelli feather back the throttle? No, he goes by as well. And so, it could be two drivethroughs. And the Mercedes had to wait for a long time. These are elite drivers who were being backed up. And Anetti does give the place back. They don’t want two drive-throughs at Mercedes. Yeah, Max is just backing me up. He’s not even pushing. There’s a race win if a successful lunge is made here bylair. And it’s going to have to be a lunge to do it. This is not comfortable. Charlair getting very, very, very close to the back now. He’s running right behind. In comes Vstappen. He will drop down to fourth in the order. Here’s the stop. Norris leads. Llair second. Pastri in third. And Lando Norris will be ticking off the corners now. And they are iconic corners as he makes his way to the new chicane. He hears the horns in the harbor, heralding his win, chased all the way by Shalair. But when Max Stappen pitted, he took the lead on the final lap. A lead that he had earned all the way through. And every driver dreams of this moment leading the Monaco Grand Prix. On the last lap, Lando will join the legendary winners of this race. Lando Norris wins the Monaco Grand Prix. He wins the race by 3.1 seconds. A second podium at home for Sha Llair. Third position for Oscar Pastri who comes across the line to secure the podium. There you go. P1 in Monaco, baby. Monaco, baby. Yeah, baby. Woo! We did it. Well done. We won in Monaco. It’s a dream. Well done, guys. Unbelievable job. Amazing weekend. Thank you so much. For the second time this season, Lando Norris is a Grand Prix winner. For the first time ever in Monaco, it’s Lando Norris heading to the top step of the podium. Rclaren’s first win in the Principality since 2008 with the great Lewis Hamilton and Norris’s first win since Melbourne and he’s closed down the gap in the world championship to three points.

Catch up on all the highlights from the streets of the Principality, which saw a race full of intriguing strategy calls, gripping action and a lead change on the final lap!

  1. I cooked and ate a sunday lamb roast dinner whilst actually watching this…..doesnt mater what they try, monaco will always be a load of toss……fact

  2. Wait there's an actual race for Monaco? I thought it was just qualifying to determine who the winner was

  3. I'm sorry f1, Monaco is done for. It's bin fun but very very boring. It was not fun to watch. They don't make the track wider. It's not doable. Sad there was not 1 overtake on the track… Please let Monaco be the last time. It's not 1980 anymore. Maybe it fun for slower cars but not f1 imo 😅

  4. The incident with Albon is proof enough that we need to get rid of Monaco. The sport has out grown this track.

  5. Such a boring race, year after year – extend the widths of some parts of the track. cars are bigger, its time to adapt. does anyone else see this??

  6. unless they can make the monaco GP track wide enough to pass, or they build a new track altogether then it should be removed from the schedule. because as it stands? the race is nothing more than a parade.. and that is a shame…..😥😥

  7. The modern cars are far to big for this track. I think it’s time it was put to rest

  8. So… Red Bull look like such idiots for kicking Lawson out after 2 races for Tsunoda, who has only scored 10 points. My thing is that Red Bull should have let Lawson adjust to the RB21 and then decide halfway through the season as to what they were going to do with him. Although Tsunoda's scored 10 points, Lawson's scored 4, and Hadjar's scored 15 points. If you take away the achievements, Red Bull is such a dud team.

  9. When Motogp has one of the best race in British, meanwhile F1 just doing practice around Monaco. I don't even know why you guys still watching F1 at this point really
