Skyrim and indeed the entire Elder Scrolls universe, expose us to a number of unanswered questions and unexplained narratives. However, perhaps the greatest mystery of The Elder Scrolls franchise, and one that nearly shaped Skyrim itself, is unknown fate of Emperor Uriel Septim the fifth – The Emperor who went missing. Uriel’s story is an incredible one and his mysterious fate may very well shape The Elder Scrolls franchise as we know it. So today we’ll be taking a look and analyzing the tale of Uriel Septim V.

  1. Wait, but if your character is a Dragonborn, can he be a descendant of Uriel V?

  2. But since your character in Skyrim is dragonborn wouldn’t that make it possible for them to take the throne and restore the divine protection from akatosh im always so confused on some of these things. It’s crazy how like 4 people in Tamriel react to you being a dragonborn you think the emperor would be trying to get you to the imperial city like crazy or trying to see you

  3. I'd say we can say the snake people worship dragons. The dragons took over Akavir like the dragons took over Skyrim. Then when the old heros used the elder scroll on Alduin and all the dragons "felt the shattering of time" the dragons of Akavir started to help the snake people to avoid the same fate. It would be easy for dragons to use clear skys and storm call to help the snake people with farming and other stuff, and after a few gens the snake people would worship dragons. That would explane why they didn't mess with even a single dragonborn.

  4. Super new comment on an OLD video BUT! I do think what Howard said at that convention makes the most sense about the original plot of Skyrim. If you look at ALL of the mainline Elder Scrolls games (not including Online), they all center around the Septim dynasty in one way or another. Morrowind being the odd one in that Uriel VII really wasnt involved too much compared to the others, but he was ultimately the reason you became the Nerevarine to begin with with letting you out of prison 😂

  5. "The events of skyrim take place over 600 years after" … um ya …. a design decided AFTER scrapping the return idea therefore skyrim would most likely have been only 20-60 years after ES4 … timeline is not an issue with this as the replaced idea of skyrim they would have debated an appropriate timeline for the current story

  6. Uriel would have shouted before the last standing if he knew about the story, and he should have known such important detail, the invasion dont make any sense otherwise, he died or worse

  7. Maybe the role that Alduin plays in TES5, being teleported in time and also bringing back all the dragons, was supposed to be the role played by Uriel V. Maybe Uriel would be sent forward in time too, to the present era, and he would have his army of dragons. In this case he wouldn't need to survive all those centuries, because he was just being teleported forward in time.

  8. "waking up to see invading legions of possibly vampiric snake people would be quite the baffling event"

And if you live in ukraine, you get to experience it irl!

  9. after watching this i just realized… ESO will cover cyrodil, TES 6 will be in akavir

  10. I like the idea of Uriel or one of his decedents returning to Tamriel during the 2nd Great War but honestly what’s stopping the dragon born from filling in that role.

By rights of the dragon blood the imperial throne is his to claim and as it’s pretty much cannon that he takes no side in the civil war the dragon born can be the one to reunify Skyrim and Cyradil against the thalmor

  11. How is it so hard to believe that an emperor died in battle like do people think all kings and emperors just don't want to die in battle of all deaths thats one of the better ones for an emperor or king. It doesn't seem do far fetched that uriel v died in battle on akavir like hes fucking dead the septims arw sead unless ureil had another bastard which is very likely that he did and he didn't know about it i roleplayed in my most recent Skyrim playthrough as a septim. uriel v is dead he died in batlle as a true hero probably trying to buy time so that whatever was left of his invasion force coild try to escape

  12. I'll always have my head cannon of the dragon born joining sides with the stormcloaks liberating skyrim then marching on tamriel Provences. With cyrodiil next citizens become torn with their hatred for Titus mede the second and loyalty for the empire they grew up with. Many side with the new dragonborn with beliefs he's talos reincarnated come to restore the empire to former glory and repair the blood line. With tensions high some members of the elder council betraying their loyalty to the empire and contacting the dark brother hood who has began a path of redemption in skyrim to assassinate the emperor in hopes of avoiding war with the Stormcloaks and any further blood shed. ( in this the player has no dealings with the dark brother hood as it just wouldn't make sense lore wise unless someone has a way of implementing it.) With the emperor dead cyrodiil welcomes the dragonborn as the new emperor. Uniting the empire once again the dragonborn takes the name septim and turns his sights toward the aldmeri dominion who miss played their cards not accounting for the assassination of the emperor and never had the chance to wipe out the empire and the dragonborn in one decisive battle.

  13. What if the whole reason those cities were abandoned was because of how bad the weather is so the snake men always move out whenever that time of the year comes around

  16. The thing is, could Uriel V shout? He'd have known the Tsaesci instantly bent the knee to Reman Cyrodil when he revealed he was Dragonborn. Uriel V definitely would have wanted to pull the same trick. Maybe because he was invading they just didn't care, or more likely, he hadn't unlocked the ability.

  17. Or I better idea they put the dragonborn from Skyrim on the throne and he becomes emperor and there will be a whole new dynasty of dragonborns starting with the player

  18. There is some evidence that not all dragonborn possess the power to shout, even though it is a skill anyone can learn through meditation and practice. There's strong suggestion and evidence that neither Martin nor Uriel VII we're dragon shouters, their blood granting them different abilities. It's entirely likely that Uriel V never had the ability to shout either, or perhaps, sought out the souls of dragons to see if he even could (hence his trip to Akivir in the first place). Given his martial prowess and desire, becoming the 'greatest general known to tamriel' and the Greybeards opinions about how to use 'Kyne's gift' maybe they never agreed to teach him. During the first era (Remans reign) it's possible or likely that he fought dragons (who still existed into the second era See: Redguard) or that as part of his mythical rise to power he encountered party snacks who agreed with Remans vision to unite Tamriel in the second empire and taught him to shout.

  19. Bethesda can do this sure. But as it stands this is pretty far fetched. Two first hand witnesses saw him get hit and die, and we have to actively ignore that.

  20. Weather magic is not unheard of, maybe that's the enemy strat. Slowly draining them of resources while denying of more crops in those lands.

  21. I wish Bethesda would make Elder Scrolls 7 about Akavir, so then we can find out more about the place and see the information we do know about it in game. Even if they just wrote a script out with some lore attached and gave it to a team of molders for an elder scrolls 6 expansion, I wouldn’t be tripping. Every time I hear about that place on videos or in game I just wanna explore it more. I hate that they are probably stopping at elder scrolls 6 though.

  22. If Uriel V were alive and returned to Cyro (or descendants of him) and retake the throne, he’d need the Amulet of Kings to relight the Dragonfires. The one that was, you know, destroyed at the end of Oblivion.
The lit Dragonfires were what protected the empire, but the Septims needed the amulet to light them. Which was shattered.

The Dragonfires went out with the death of each Septim Emperor. And Martin shattered the amulet and used it and the Dragonfires’ braziers to attain the Avatar of Akatosh

  23. To me, the great anticlímax in Skyrim is that the Civil War ends on itself.

You're Dragonborn, probably or not, descendant of Septim dinasty. The Mede Emperor just died (you may, or may not, have something to tell about it), the Empire is a mess, a shadow of former itself… And i'm beeing used by Molag Bal pitness on some other Daedra priest, after saved Nirn from Alduin, Potema, Harkon, Miraak…

    Frustrating.

  24. What are instead of snake people they were like dragon people that feels like it would make more sense 🤔

  25. I think that even without Uriel V, we could still see a Septum in Elder Scrolls 6. Martin's past before he was a priest was pretty scandalous. It would make sense if there was a bunch of little Martins he didn't know about.

  26. Guys, ive done it, youtube has finally asked me to become a member, but to to having no money i cannot 😭

  27. I believe the dark brotherhood killed him and the arrows thye saw earnt from the snake people but a assassin because if you ppay the dark brotherhood questline and you go to kill that emperor astrid mentions that the dark brotherhood hasn't been part of something like that in a really long time i dont remember actually how long she said but she did saw something like that and you got to remember the dark brotherhood are the best assassins in skyrim so its possible

  28. All y'all look at Delphine and her un-endable self, instead of looking at the situation. In Skyrim, the PC is the Last Dragonborn, right? So literally, the final Tamrielic being to naturally be born of the Dragon Blood and Spirit, to whom the Thuum is instinctual instead of studied day and night, like the Dragon Priests do. I WANT TO SEE THE ARNGIER, BORRI, WULFGAR and EINARTH DRAGON PRIEST MASKS. Literally 4 Dragon Priests chilling on the top of the mountain, pretending not to be waiting for the DB to pass away so they and their DRAGON MASTER, Paarthurnax, can lay claim to Tamriel once they're outta the picture. After the DB brings violence back to the word, seemingly with the blessings of both Kynareth and Akatosh, the GB's will once again begin practicing offensive Voice usage. They will adorn themselves with their traditional Dragon Priest masks, given to them by their slain masters and Paarthurnax, who is now free to wreak havoc since there wouldn't be anyone to stop him. Unless the DB ends the shadow tyranny of the scaled Liar who once made PARTYSNAX out of human beings. Should be canon: DB offs Paarthurnax

  29. The tsaesci were the dominant life form on akavir, and even the dragons were afraid of them. A point that was missed in the video.

And uriel wanted to conquer them first for this reason. It would’ve meant victory over the continents dominant life form while his troops were ready to go.

Instead of working his way up from the weakest and wearing down his own troops.

He also assumed by conquering the tsaesci, that some of the other races would’ve simply given up from proving their dominance over the tsaesci.

  30. Plot for elder scrolls six: the Falmor won and the elves have taken over. And you are in jail for some reason of tyranny (gotta stick to the trope) and you’re freed by a mysterious person who you can choose to help, (or betray perhaps in multiple ways) who is on a mission to take back control of the land from the elves. And part of that includes getting Uriel Septim V back. That would make for one hell of an adventure. And compelling main quest for ES 6
