KEPT YOU WAITING HUH? We're finally here! I'm crazy excited to be playing MGSV The Phantom Pain for the first time. The Prologue is INSANE! Absolute cinema. That little montage sequence… so good.
As always, little reminder: I film these videos in advance (I have filmed 7 episodes of The Phantom Pain at the time I'm writing this). So if you give any tips/advice, don't be surprised if I don't put them into action in my videos until much later in the playthrough! And please please, NO SPOILERS! I've been incredibly lucky so far to have none (thanks to EXCELLENT moderators), and I'd like to keep it that way. I ask lots of questions and theorize a lot to voice my thought process, but I never want any answers Thank you!

This game is the reason for my obsession with "The Man Who Sold The World" from David Bowie's original version to Nirvana's, and it's also the reason I discovered Bowie in the first place.
The first time I played the game I forgot that they rebuilt Big Boss's body with Solidus parts and just assumed they were "Nanomachines son"
1:20:58 I didn't expect that you'd recognize Ocelot at the first sight, you're pretty good 👉 👉. Now I'll be able to explain you in french why I had recommended you to skip the score screen at the end of the prologue (it's just about Ocelot).
En fait beaucoup de joueurs n'ont pas reconnu Ocelot quand il arrive à cheval (malgré ses bottes avec éperons et ses gants rouges emblématiques) et lors de la page du score, il aurait pu y avoir un texte dans les bonus disant un truc genre "Vous n'avez pas reçu de dégâts face à l'homme en feu après avoir rencontré Ocelot" et évidemment les joueurs qui n'avaient pas reconnu Ocelot se sont fait spoiler bêtement par Konami en voyant ce texte défiler (tu n'as pas eu le texte pour le coup). En tout cas j'imagine que ça a dû te faire plaisir cette surprise de revoir notre Ocelot adoré ❤️❤️👉👉 (certes il a 40 ans tout juste mais c'est toujours le même)
Yea the facial settings are weird because the Greek Doc says us he has to change our appearance but he doesnt have time to set it up.
The avatar we made can be used later Online though, but that's pretty bizarre
Here you realize that in this game, Kojima is battling with Konami because he feels like it's going in the direction the director wants, but it also feels strange. It doesn't feel like Kojima's other games, where he had free rein and free reign to direct his games however he wanted. In the end, and this isn't a spoiler, this game was what caused the relationship between Kojima and Konami to break down. And they went their separate ways.
52:54 is an example of the prologue's weirdness :
The guy faces the shooter, then the soldier shoots him, but when the guy falls on the curtain we see his face instead of the back of his head, but he didnt turn around after the soldier show him.
All of this is full of weird details, Kojima knows how to make us uncomfortable

the prolog is basically the trailer so you can imagine all the theory's that we came up with before the game came out, people even found (what they thought) was that real life doctor
The entire opening hospital segment is Kojima at his absolute Kojimaest. You think you’re confused now? Just wait.
Its not really a spoiler at all and its pretty inconsequential, but the confusion over the mirror scene at the beginning, the custom character you made was a "this is what you will look like" moment storywise, but its also the avatar you would have used in online play in Metal Gear Online, but i think that got shut down.
V has come to VICTORY✌🏼
The character appearance was for Online gameplay that was intertwined with the story, so your avatar online for MGO would be the character appearance. Pretty clever if you ask me

The opening is just Absolute Cinema, and many ppl will disagree with me but Big Boss's whole story arc is my Sophies Choice (;-:)

Experiencing all that then remembering his final thoughts in MGS4…

Im sure chatters in the premier helped here but to contextualize the beginning as it goes at 100mph , the whole avatar selection thing is primarily for the Metal Gear online portion of the game if you interact with that, as far as the story, you were basically choosing your identity you were GOING to be turned into to mask your appearance , but then all the doctor murder happened :/
All will be revealed. Have no fear.
All that time in Ground Zeroes didn't help as much as I thought it would, still scuffed as fuck lol

the vision of a flaming whale swallowing the helicopter is a nice touch too
also…notice the hexagon patterned tile floor
It might mean nothing, but I find it strange how the XOF troop pulling back curtains and executing patients has such "robotic" movement: rigidly turning and moving only on 90 degree angles (like an mgs1 genome soldier.) He only goes back to a realistic "unhurried saunter" of a walk when he assumes all targets in the room have been killed.
Literally waiting for this moment.

I’ve been waiting for this video ever since the first MGS1 video
Je me permets de donner mon avis en ce qui concerne ton ressenti énoncé dans la partie "thought". MGS V est un jeu qui demande un certain recul quant à son analyse, rester sur des analyses à chaud est une erreur qui peut faire détester le jeu (c'est d'ailleurs pour cette raison qu'il reste le MGS qui divise le plus).
Alors évidemment c'est normal d'avoir autant de questions et ce sentiment de frustration car tu es au tout début du jeu, mais comme beaucoup l'on dit, savoure le jeu un maximum comme il t'est donné, et pour le reste, j'ai envie de dire "fait confiance en Kojima".
Par contre, continue avec tes théories, c'est toujours un plaisir de les entendre.
Hâte de la suite du let's play, toujours marrant de voir que tout le monde est la même réaction pour l'intro de ce jeu : wtf !?
Pour finir, une petite info qui peut être importante : tu as sûrement dû le remarquer depuis mais à chaque mission, il y a les noms des personnages qui vont apparaître dans ladite mission qui peuvent amener à du spoil donc n'hésite pas à éviter de regarder les noms si besoin.
