The last of Us is a very emotionally taxing game, I’m glad they are moving on and making for what it looks like a more fun game with Intergalactic.

I usually support when devs make new decision/innovations and especially new IP. But there has to be a tlou3. Can cement itself as the best trilogy ever just imagine. Back-to-back-to-back 10/10 games. I hope Niel has an ego and makes.

As much as I'd love to see a Last of Us with Tommy at the helm, it would probably be a prequel following Tommy & Joel during their days as raiders.
Tommy is way to busted up after part 2 to do anything significant.
TLoU 2 was notoriously hard on the team especially with crunch so if they want to focus on Intergalactic, go for it.
I had also thought they were setting up TLoU 3 with Abby & Lev. But if they do add Tommys storyline concept to the TV show I'd be down with that too.

I miss when massive AAA Naughty Dog games would be 4 in one generaiton; there were 4 in the PS3 era.. none yet in this era and 3 in the PS4.. strange
Great video. Right now I don’t know how to feel about this situation.
My bet is that they have a concept of a story like Neil said but they want us to focus on Intergalatic.
I believe they eventually want to Part 3 but they want to take a break and let the IP rest awhile.
If Naughty Dog had any brains they would fire Neil and beg Amy Henning to come back.
After Neil got her fired, I doubt she would ever come back if he still worked there after what he did to her. Amy was in charge of Uncharted 123 and part of 4 and TLOU 1. TLOU2 was all Neil and we all saw how that turned out.

That interview was in 2023, 2 years ago. I firmly believe that they have started on Part 3 since then. Don't think we'll see it anytime soon though. Uncharted wasn't Neil's Creation, TLOU is. He wants to finish the story in a positive way. I trust ND to make the decision on what to do going forward. I also believe he wants the show and intergalactic to get the spotlight for now, any mention of TLOU3 would take the spotlight.
am I the only one that reads it as him saying "this can be it" with "this" meaning TLOU3 since that was the topic of discussion?
My analysis of what Neil has said is that he may not want to commit to another 5-7 years of development time. Each TLOU game spent over 4 years in development. There are both technical marvels and storytelling masterpieces. But they took a vast toll on the dev teams. Then The Last of Us Online was cancelled after nearly 7 years of development. Intergalactic has been in development since 2020 and likely won't release until 2026. Druckmann (and probably the team at Naughty Dog) are exhausted. Neil, himself, may be getting ready to move on from Naughty Dog. I still think we'll get The Last of Us Part III's story either in game form or possibly in season 4 of the show.
I think this a no brainer he doesn’t close the door on it because if Intergalactic flops he knows he still has The Last of Us sequel to fall back on to keep the lights on at Naughty Dog
