We had miku shmup, now we have official miku shmup.
Cute short game, the technical explanation is that this a playable music video.
Shaped as a shmup, with the lyrics also being about said shmup.
Even though it’s technically not a caravan, it does kinda play like one; very short and pretty easy with an emphasis on scoring.
Scoring has a couple of factors:
– Combo chaining. The multiplier increases by killing enemies to a max of x10.0 and the combo meter drops if you don’t kill or collect items for a little bit.
– Item collecting, these are affected by the multiplier.
– Tickpoints. These make up a big part of the score and they might have some unintended side-effects (*cough* midboss).
Enemies get to a max value of 1000 with items being 100. The bigger enemies are x2 value.
Getting hit nukes your multiplier, and there’s also a 30k shield bonus at the stage-end bonus.
The Xevious mirror section can give insane score if you’re lucky, as where they spawn is random.
You really want that god luck where they spawn in such a way that you can hit three of them at once with each part of your shot.
The final boss is a timed event so the challenge here is mostly getting in as many tickpoints as possible before it’s over. Tickpoints here are worth quite a lot.
Items give more score after killing more enemies so you technically want to stick to the bottom.
I doubt that you get more than a 100 points extra for doing this though.
Tickpoints might have a weird Garegga situation going on where being on certain even or off frames gives more points per frame.
I noticed on the big pre-boss pointblank that I sometimes get 2000 more or less for no particular reason.

The game ran the best for me in Edge, with Chrome by far the worst lol.

Brutal competition in the score leaderboard here.
Quite an interesting concept, so can we call this a Miku 'em up? Bad puns aside, a bit silly scoring seems to be better if you hit the boss just with side directional shots.
A friend linked the game to me last night and saw your name on the scoreboard, my only reaction was "OF COURSE HE PLAYED THIS TOO!"
In all seriousness this is such a lovely cool concept for an interactive media.
Such a cute little shmup, wow. Seems kinda inspired by ZeroRanger at times, I wonder if it really was.
Definitely gonna try this one
a MIKU ZERO RANGER GAME
Was waiting for you to make a video of this game
Macros Miku? Look lovely.
Now She have to be forgotten so she will be in Gensokyo and become a playable for the next game.
The pinnacle of cute em up gameplay, good shit Jaimers
"MACROSS: Q-SIDE the Rhythmic Shmup Game feat. Hatsune Miku"? An interesting concept that just makes so much sense… Color me intrigued!
The whole reference to being a playable music video is something I genuinely like about this. I wouldn't mind seeing something that's sort of a cross between, for lack of better example, Dance Dance Revolution and DoDonPachi…I'd love to have multiple play styles or different rules based on something like a song or genre. Throw on DLC in the form of new tracks and maybe marathon sets, and I'd be totally in for it.
zero ranger black onion mode looking sick
Mikuruga…that is all
now this is a based miku
mikuranger
I wish the developer would make a full Miku shmup. I have no idea how Crypton Media handles that stuff, but I imagine that we would've had more Hatsune Miku games than Touhou by now. 🙂
Amazing!!
世界二位マジ!?
"I can't see the end of the horizon… HATSUNE MIKU!? IS THAT YOU, AND YOU HAVE YOUR OWN SHUMP GAME?!"
All memes aside, that's a pretty good shooter game. I love Hatsune Miku so much. Keep up the good work, Jaimers <3
i love how the comments are all in agreement that this becomes zeroranger at some point
and i mean, the final boss did immediately make me think of [blue spoiler]
i see kind of grazing effect when bullets pass nearby, but does it affects the score?
