Ray tracing title “Control” running on GTX 1080 Ti with XeSS 2.0 upscaling (which was recently released in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.) I used DLSS Enabler to port the XeSS 2.0 DLL into Control in order to achieve excellent image quality at the low rendering resolution required for ray tracing on GTX graphics cards.
If you are wondering how I modded XeSS 2.0 into Control, check out my previous video showcasing XeSS 2.0 in Cyberpunk 2077. At the end of that video I have a tutorial on the installation process I did for Cyberpunk, which was the same for Control.
The game runs well even with full ray tracing on GTX 1080 Ti because the number of rays needed to be traced is dependent on your rendering resolution BEFORE upscaling. That way, with XeSS 2.0’s better than DLSS 2 image quality, I’m able to render the game at with the ultra performance preset which renders the game at 480p. Control’s internal TAA isn’t up to the task of making 720p look good on my 1440p monitor, but with XeSS modded in and the ability to use DLSS on a GTX 1080 Ti (XeSS) makes 480p legitimately look great.
Brand new graphics cards that cost $400 require upscaling to run ray tracing at 60fps and you only get 8GB of VRAM. GTX 1080 Ti runs ray tracing with upscaling at 60fps at 1440p at ultra settings with VRAM to spare at 11GBs.
MY THESIS:
These days, old GPUs benefit from improvements to rendering techniques just as much as brand new GPUs do. Price for performance has stagnated since the release of the GTX 1060. Yet, Nvidia has successfully gaslit a generation of PC gamers into throwing out their GTX 900 and GTX 1000 series of GPUs while offering the bare minimum in return for higher prices and higher numbers than they offered 10 years ago. Upgrade your GPU when you feel you want to, not when Nvidia says it’s time. Somehow many people making videos online have that backwards!

Very cool stuff! Dont suppose you also do tweaks to SLI as well with newer titles? Im a 1080ti SLI owner, would like to extend my gpu longevity
What gpu you use?
I just got a 7900 xtx and after seeing this video I think I should just keep my 2070 super
